People talk about cost, how much would a wwII fighter, multi engine or bomber aircraft cost vs. the aircraft cost no-a-days. heck even the cost of a aircraft that had radar. (!?)

O.K., then a multi-million dollar fighter.  Still, not so much.  The F-22 for instance, in the neighborhood of $350 million each (very dependant on who and how the dollars are being counted toward what part of the program).

Think of the entire spectrum, from concept to RnD, to trials and implementation, etc.  The F22 and F35 are both multi-billion dollar aircraft, the most expensive ever even after adjusting for inflation, etc. Mind you, I'm not an opponent of the programs, I just like putting things in to perspective.  NATO forces were able to, at least with most war models ever produced and that includes Soviets models, with far inferior numbers but far superior training, tactics, and equipment.  Interesting stuff.

I believe they are about 150million fly away cost for the cheapest version the F-35A.  However they are projected to cost 78million each as long as all of our foreign customers keep their contracts.  Although not multi-billion dollar aircraft like the B-2.  These cost's do not include R&D and the cost of the test program just the cost it takes to actually manufacture the aircraft.

Yes the price includes development costs, and for every new production lot the price goes down since more of the development costs have been paid off in previous lots. Right now you can get an F-35A for about $105 million. By the end of the year the price will be less than $100 million. A new F-16 or F-18 have a flyaway cost of $60-100+ million depending on equipment options.

Fly away cost doesn't include development.  If you go on wikipedia and see the F-22A is 150 million.  That does not include R&D when that is included F-22s are around the $350 million dollar range.  Again wikipedia states the B-2 bomber only costs 737million.  Negative.  The whole program cost about 2.1 billion each as everyone knows.

Flyaway cost is literally just the bare bones aircraft often times the cost of the software isn't included in that price.
