Is there anyone in the Hampton Roads area...
« on: June 27, 2013, 09:20:05 AM »
...that wants to play with my dinghy?

I am looking for a crew of one.  It is technically a Sunfish race, but they have extended an invitation to Mutineer sailors, as well as, a few other one-design boats.

New paint, new rigging, but old sails.  She is still quite fast.

I loved sailing my Sunfish when I had it. Got tipped over in the bay once when a strong storm was coming in.  :uhoh

Wish i was near there.  :cry

May move down that way in future any places to stay away from?  :headscratch:

I don't know.

I live right outside of Philly  :D

I've sailed the upper end of the Chesapeake many times, but never in the HR area (even though I was stationed at Ft. Eustis for a while)

Had a sunfish and sunflower.

On a couple of occasions, the sunflower actually got up on plane in high winds........it was so unbelievably light.

I plane at 5 kts  :rock

For a 15' boat, she has a ludicrously tall mast (21' 8") and carries a ridiculous amount of sail: 100 sq. ft. main, 50 sq. ft. jib and 156 sq. ft chute (if I had one).  With the main and jib flying, that is 150 sq. ft. of sail, basically 10 sq. ft. per foot of boat.

The hull has a deep "v" in the bow but is basically flat in the stern which gives her the ability to plane so quickly.

Here is the entire refit:  http://s239.photobucket.com/user/tymekeepyr/library/Boat
