I thought FSO attracted only the best
« on: June 27, 2013, 03:37:46 PM »
In frame 3 of the June FSO one of my squaddies collided with another plane while twisting on the deck.  They then received a nasty PM questioning their, well, flying abilities (along with some insults).

I view FSO as a premier event with a very different mind set than you find in the MA.  Why is it people have to be such sphincters?  Is there anything we can do as a community to weed out these internet hero's?

Only what we have done all along.  Keep our own squads clean.  The Universe will deal with the rest.

You can ignore them and move on. It eventually works. Some people need to get a rise out of someone to justify their existence; when they get none, they eventually leave or keep quiet.

I find absolutely no reason for poor sportsmanship and bad behavior in any arena; it's sad that apparently some do.

Most CO's won't tolerate that kind of behavior if they are aware of it.

Of course the ironic thing is, if that guy really understood the ah collision model he would know it was his own fault.

The problem is many don't understand the collision model. Just look at all the whines associated with collisions, and the demands that both take damage posted on the AH boards.

This type of behavior doesn't belong in the FSO. The CO of the offending squad should be made aware and that CO should handle it. 1 Reason I love FSO no MA type behavior  :salute.

Reduced. Depending on the behavior you mean.

FSO does indeed rock, though.  :D

Thanks for the thoughts.

I will get the screen shot of the exchange and forward it to their CO.  I will supply it as "information only" with no commentary and let the CO decide if this is the way they want their squad represented.  Who knows, they may encourage it.

Is there a list of CO's for each squad kept somewhere?

You can get a quick list of CO's by looking at any of the "Squad Attendance" threads I post in this forum.  It's also available on the AHEvents web site under squad assignments.   :salute

I saw the Channel 200 comment about: "<callsign> collided with me gun's a blazing,"  and immediately sent a warning to stop using channel 200.  Unfortunately, we can't see PMs.  Collisions happen in every arena.  Your CM staff enforces the rules (including behavior) in each arena.  You have a better chance picking on me than a player in an event I am hosting.  FSO does not allow or tolerate taunting or oppressive behavior.  Honestly, as a CM it only rarely happens.  And when it does, usually the CO's and FSO pilots are the first to warn of a violation.  I consider this an abberant thing.  Fueled from passion.  Funny, as I get older and look back on my life I realize that the emotion associated with most regretful things I have done is anger.  Still, as an FSO CM, it is you guys... the players that help with the arena the most.  <S>  And trust me... this won't become a reoccurring problem.  ~~~ Snake ~~~

I want to reply to this because obviously everyone saw that it was me that he collided with.

Because I went out of town right after this, I never got a chance to explain to Meathd all that happened...

We both got a collide message...he was damaged and so was I.  He was running away from our base and I was trying to land.  He was coming straight for me and I him, we were both damaged so neither of us could turn properly.  I shot and tried to turn out of the way (he also fired), we collided.  He died before me and was mad.

I pm'd him after what was said on 200 because it was not necessary.  We exchanged "words" and it was done.  I had a few drinks so I told him and then my squad after what I thought of him.

End of story...it is done...thanks..  :D

Not so obvious, most of us detune 200 per FSO rules.
