Suppose this dolt said what he said, then went out and did it.  Suppose the media got wind that the night before, or a week before he'd loudly proclaimed what he was going to do online, but nobody reported it or better yet, somebody reported it to the police and they did nothing because it was obviously just the usual normal online BS.

What would the public reaction be?

I would rather overreact and call the police and face ridicule rather than live with the fact that I could have stopped some kids from being killed and did nothing about it.

This is a more serious issue than most people think. My uncles name is Jack and whenever he returns from a business trip, we can never greet him in the airport.

Oh and as for the issue at hand? I've been getting in trouble since I was 5 for saying things that "shouldn't have been said in public." I mean seriously? I didn't know a 5 year old repeating something he heard in a Looney Toons cartoon was considered a terrorist threat.

Willie and guncrasher have a point. If the police didn't act and something did happen then the blame would fall on the authorities that did nothing to stop it. At the same time by taking action they are being criticized for taking action against what was obviously a joke. It's a double standard in society and people will always assume that you did the wrong thing because they don't look ahead to what could have happened.
