Rough waters
« on: July 01, 2013, 01:02:13 PM »
The ocean seems extremely smooth and glassy for the PT Boats new motion.  I understand the attempt to keep increasing the reality of the game and appreciate it, however, the motion would never be that consistent at all speeds and directions. I would like to see waves before I see a boat popping wheelies on water that is a wake boarders dream.

It's hard enough to rack up some kills in a PT boat and you want to add the motion of the boat jumping up and down too  :lol You do that and you might as well pull them from the game as they'll be even more useless then they are now.
What PT boats need are spawns close to towns and fields so they can actually be used for something besides CV cannon fodder.
Lighten up Francis

I no longer drive them but rather spawn them and sit still or drive somewhere and wait for it to stop.

You can't hit anything at all while moving.

Now it takes skill and practice, that's all. It's too bad there are some people out there that feel entitled to have everything handed to them and expect "easy mode" because they can't/won't put in the time to practice. For them, I guess there's always spawning near the shore and beaching the PT to give them their stable gun platform.  ;)

The torps still launch. The cruiser or carrier isn't gonna 'cut' instantly between bobs.

You are incorrect for even suggesting I am someone who want's everything handed to me.

I'll venture bet (how about 2 months subscription?) that I spend much more time than about 90% of aces high subscribers doing things that require an inordinate amount of "work" to reach my goals.

Example 1:   How is driving a tank one sector to friendly strats where there is no friendly spawn just to get a tank on tank kill vs the enemy who I am guessing has driven 1 sector to attack strats?

I could easily upped a plane with bombs like everybody else but I choose to get my rewards by working harder than the average aces high pilot.

Example 2:   many times, I have driven a pt boat 3 sectors or more up river just for the chance of attacking hq or strats from the water.

I've ridden in a real PT boat and it does not bob like ours does when underway..........it's actually quite smooth while underway.

The bobbing starts when you stop.

HTC has it backwards concerning how the PT boat acts.

I'm surprised an aces high CM would throw in insult such as this when it smacks of your being flippant and not doing the research to back up what you intended to say before saying it.

Well, as my recently deceased great uncle oft said, "Son, others may tell you to work harder, and hard work is nothing to be ashamed of .... if you don't know how to work smarter."

I was not insulting you, and not directing my comments at you. I merely used your statements (the ones I quoted) to illustrate that it takes skill now that the PT bobs up and down and that the tone of this thread is that people don't want to have to work at accomplishing things.

I apologize to you if my reply seemed otherwise.  :salute

I like it. It adds a touch to the pt run that is more realistic than not. Never been in one, but been at sea in a large Chris Craft cabin cruiser (don't ask for specs, was far too young to know more than twin Chryslers and room to sleep 8) that did similar cresting sea waves. It doesn't have the displacement to cut the waves like a cruiser. Personally think it is quite fun.

I like the bobbing, it means that when I see a water wirble cruising around trying to get into position off the end of our runway that I will have a better time killing him.

I've looked at several YouTube videos of real PTs underway and they look remarkably stable, especially at speed.  The bobbing in AH is just one more annoyance on something that is virtually useless to begin with.

Masochism bro.   It is masochism.   Maybe we can get a "coast guard" achievement for bailing out of PT boats as well.    :devil
