I think a slight make over on runways would loom cool.

And Some airfields if you take off from the FH, you go through the center of the field, over concrete and grass :old:

I think you're over analyzing this.  I believe the op and others like myself are asking to have the runway textures changes. Something similar to what WMaker posted.

not over analyzing but thing about how you and your mission would like to spawn?

It would spawn the same as it does now.  By using different shades of color to signify the landing surface it wouldn't change the way the game works, you'd still spawn N, S, SW, SE, ect ect base on the strips orientation.

:airplane: What I am referring to guys, is a 25 or 30 acre square field, where, the way you takeoff and land is dictated by the wind sock located on top of the hangars. (Of course, since we have no wind at ground level in AH, you could just take off and land in any direction. LOL
check this out guys, it is very interesting!

And while you are digging up info, help me out on this one: How did the Brits and Germans keep their grass fields mowed for use? I haven't been able to find any answers for that one. Just one more thing on my "bucket list" to check off before I have to report to that big hangar in the sky. (Hope I get assigned to a B-17 outfit).
Blue Skies and wind at my back and wish that for all!!!

Why not add the airfields that are used in the WW1 arena to select areas on LW maps, wish granted.

Gear up landings of grass fields can be more dangerous than on concrete because of the potential for the plane to dig in.

I would think that landing a P51 gear up on grass would transmit a huge amount of energy through the lower scoop to the seat mounts......possibly enough to kill the pilot.

I am one that dont use gear unless rearming...but ya I think with a dirt or grass RW gear would be a must.

Nice Ranger!

My take:
-"Green Concrete" is a good idea.  Don't land it on the strip you are left with a ditch.

-Add a grass strip and rearm pad to Vbases akin to ETO after Normandy and Eastern Front throughout the war.

-We can and already do use Vbases to land kills/wounded birds, why not make the practice realistic instead of simply gamey?

-No initial aircraft spawns allowed at Vbases (other than Fi156 of course).
