Proper gunsight for the Fw-190A5
« on: July 04, 2013, 10:13:05 AM »
In reading "P-51 Mustang vs Fw-190: Europe 1943-45" by Martin Bowman, Osprey Publishing; 2007. It mentions gunsights between the -A7 and previous versions of the 190 (page 26, side comments.)

They do not provide an actual site picture but instead note the mechanic features of the gunsight. In-game we have two German options: GER evi16a/bmp and German Revi16d.bmp They are almost identical. Are these the gunsights of either pre-A7 or post-A7?

At the time of the manual from which that line drawing was taken, the ReviC 12 reticle were being installed in the new Revi16. Our FW A-D and Ta152 have the Revi16B. The stadia mark division just outside of the 100Mil ring was removed because it was of no visual use. The stadia marks are for dividing the 100Mil ring into 6ths.

If you want what is in these pictures? Download this pack. When you hit the download button you might get 2 popup windows. Kill both. It's a WEB search provider trying to force their search engine into your browser if you don't kill the windows. Each gunsight has it's bmp file and a mil file. Both need to be copied to your sights directory or the gunsight will show too small in the game. There are country specific folders with readmes.

The Revi3 and ReviC 12/C are the same reticle. The Revi16A is for gun positions like the Me410. I did not include one because the pilot's position in the Me410 is a Revi16B which is inherited into the rear Revi16A sights. I wish Hitech would change that to allow a Revi16A in the gun position. The Revi16D was used for Jabo. There was an adjustable base plate a Revi16B sat on with a dial that would change the visual center line of the reticle for dive bombing.

All of the reticle in this pack are scaled to 512x512 2pixel = 1MIl. Your Revi 100Mil ring will equal a 10meter wingspan at 100meter as the Revi manual specifies. Roughly 30ft at 100yds.

Here are pictures of the Revi16 family reticle.

Here are pictures of the ReviC 12/x family reticle. The red night filter lens caused the blurring around the stadia marks which AH exacerbated with their art program. Funny they won't include night fighters but, the night fighters reticle as the only version of a Revi. We fly day fighters with yellowish, pinkish, or white reticle.
