Nope. Blew my summer blockbuster $$$ on The Lone Ranger. From the extended preview I saw Pacific Rim looked awful.

It will probably break box office records. :bhead

I am helping break that record tonight.  Superman was another purely hindbrain experience, that I don't regret... What other big budget rendition of Dragonball Z-like fighting did we get recently?  Also the Krypton self-destruct visuals were really good.

Does anyone decry games like Doom having no storytelling worth paying for?  And yet video games also have major immersion landmarks... e.g. System Shock.

Be ready for a huge gap in pacing before the last 1/3 (or 1/2 ?) of the movie gets going.  I literally got up (cant recall the last time I did that at the movies) to get a beer to help me thru it.

Same here, I've got to say that the detail that went into the graphics impressed me.  :aok

If that's what it takes to make it rain during July in Texas, I hope you don't get to see it for 2 weeks. Nothing personal...

We need more human-driven behemoth blockbuster films :rock   Based on the current reports the international market is eating all this stuff up and the outlook looks very promising on jump starting projects like this ... and I hope we get the real deal from like-minded directors like Dell Toro et al to direct the real stuff... the real deal... fresh untapped franchises from Japan (his new movie is currently loosely inspired on..... mostly over-the-map 70s-80s-90s anime and even Toho monster film franchises.  Heck, my peers in school can't help but utter PacRim = Evangelion live action!)

If I'm Dell Toro I can't wait to start and make a trilogy out of this,  and I think the whole world will eat this up too :rock

Very entertaining.  Great CGI work.  Cliche riddled.  Simplistic dialog, but likeable characters.  Interesting premise.

Do not go and see this expecting some deep meaningful life experience.  It is what it is and it does not pretend to be anything other than that.

I liked it.  Enough to want to go and see it again.
