After the big escape from the island and the loss of my son due to high altitude flying I decided to keep the name to honor his memory.  It is also the reason I don;t cross 7K in alt often.  It brings back bad memories  :(
i thought your name was from this...

the reasoning for my call sign should be fairly easy to figure out...

I've changed my name a few times over the year, even had a forced change way back when someone seemed to think I was using an inappropriate name, that cost me a couple thousand perks in each category.

So I was looking for a fitting name to "keep" and I was going to use "morphined" but it was 1 too many letters so as I was looking for a cool a   vatar I saw morfiend,Hmm I thought,a fiend and morphine all rolled up into 1 so I took that and have kept it since 05/06.

Yes I've been on morphine for a long time because of a medical condition.

But hey atleast my wings didn't melt getting to close to the sun!!! a long time ago!!! :devil                   :rofl :rofl :rofl

    :salute

PS: Ded it still amazes me that you can remember all this stuff that happened so long ago!

Yepp, with Google and a bunch of online dictionaries. A single source can't be trusted...

I used to be a salesman for office equipment. Needed a nick for a net auction service and have been using it ever since. On many occasions someone else has had the same brilliant idea, so in many places I can be identified with my year of birth (62) added to the callsign.

"Uptown" just sounds like a fighter pilots call sign to me. It has a cocky and arrogant ring to it which goes with the personalities of fighter pilots that I've met over the years. I recently changed my ingame name to OldNo7 as it's more fitting to me personally as in reality I'm just a backwoods southern redneck who likes to drink whiskey in the shade. No attitude, no ego and no funks given.

i thought it was just a user name and had no bearing in the arena so I put nada thought into a cool name.

I must say some are hard to figure out when you have only seconds to give them a VOX check warning in the heat of a good furball.
