how did you pick your name tag, here is why I changed mine
« on: July 15, 2013, 11:05:00 PM »
Hi all. I always wonder why a name is picked as we all have our reasons. I was gunny. Now I'm GunFTR. In the last flight sim game I played for 3 years, airattack ( http://usaac.us/ ) I was  Gunfighter. I picked this name as an omage to all the Clint Eastwood movies and Stephen Hunter characters in his books. I'm a west coast native, and love gun fighting and the culture. I thought its a great name for me to apply to a ww2 fighter name. while I was drooling over ww2 aircraft photos to use as a screen saver I came across the Gunfighter p-51 mustang, I read the history and felt that the name was meant to be for me then at that point. I realize the planes name was Gunfighter but its cool.  AH2 allows only 8 characters. I also noticed that you have a squad called the gunfighters. great name by the way! so I hesitated a bit as I was new here and didn't want to ruffle feathers if I could help it. Back in Airattack my squad m8s called me gunny on the coms so I thought I would go with that here. well.... I received a few  "are you a marine"? etc. and As I'm a civilian pretending to be a fighter pilot and I did stay at a holiday inn express a few times it didn't qualify me to take that name I felt It was time to go back to a name I always wanted anyway without the 9 characters of course. I gave up all my achievements and am starting over but I wanted to do a better job in the game and feel I had 5 months to feel my way around. I will say this, most everyone in here is pretty good, and the good ones are sic. So now I go forth as GunFTR and hope to see you in the air and continue my pursuit of hes pretty good to.....well lets just get to that point first, right?  Ok your turn.  Peace.

{The Gunfighters} are an awesome crew!
Flew with them since I was 14.

My first tag was skullrat, I was really into rock so I thought I was a total badass, bu the name was boring to me.

Now I know alot o peeps want to know why I have the game name Zacherof
Surfinn listen up! :D

Back in high school my group of freinds all listened to metal.
Death, and black metal were our favorite.

One day, I decided to walk to pals house wearing black and white corpse paint(basically what kiss wore, but way more benign and awesome) and a wig.

Alot of muscians in black metal have stage names. Examples are shagrath, abbath, demonaz, nergul, varg(you should know who that is Gscholz) so one of my buds dubbed me Zacherof(cause my first name is Zach)

I was forever dubbed as Zacherof from then on.

For a while I spelled it Zach3rof for some dumb reason befor I finalized on zacherof circa 4 years ago.

And no I won't change the Z to a J, or W :rofl

Another reason I like the name is people remember it along with my down to fight attitude

There was a Rolling Rock bottle sitting on the table next to me. I looked at it and thought "Eh, why not?"

That is the entire story! I actually have never had Rolling Rock before (I was 15 when I chose this name, it was my dads beer, not mine). There is no significant meaning behind it. About the only thing you can link the name to me is I am from Pennsylvania.  :D

I am a photographer and have used a lot of Nikon Gear so I just used NikonGuy.  I recently changed my name to RZ67 which is my all time favourite camera Mamiya RZ67 ... and no I will NEVER EVER change my name to CanonGuy, what does that tell you, lol.

Because "SPUD" was taken.  Spud was my call sign when I was aircrew in the Air Force.  Magnet seems to fit as I attract flying metal.

When trying to decide on a name, I noticed one of my bikes registration renewal notices laying on my desk which is BMW R1150GS shortened to BMWgs.
