Use the Convoys to Your Advantage!
« on: July 16, 2013, 10:57:17 PM »
Just an FYI: I highly suggest you fellow jabo (ground attack) players make use of a tertiary target that has an effect on the primary base OBJ.  In many cases I will hit the ord bunkers on a field then find the inbound convoy and hammer it as much as I can.  Each truck you destroy adds another 54 seconds to the down time of the OBJ you just destroyed on the field or town.

Typically, there are 8 trucks.  Destroy all 8 of them and you've just added another 7 min and 12 seconds to the down time of the OBJ you just destroyed.  That is quite an incentive if the targeted field has an ammo factory at %100, the down time is only 30 minutes by default and with the destruction of the 8 trucks you've just extended it another 7 min +.  Now, with that said some maps do not seem to show the effects of trucks # 6,7,and 8 being destroyed.  I'm not sure if there is a code issue hold over from the old system (only 5 repairable OBJ on a field).  Either way, I usually get all 8 trucks for the fun of it.

The Mossi works great for this role, btw.   :aok  If you have an escort fighter you can make full use of the Mossi's powuh!

Now, with that said some maps do not seem to show the effects of trucks # 6,7,and 8 being destroyed.

I never had that happening. If you come across this next time, you could note map and field #, so we could verify it and possibly file a bug report.

That being said, I managed to "strangle" a few critical fields in my time by destroying each and every convoy coming in for extended times, thus being able to considerably extend downtimes of ords (for example).
In theory, one could extend the downtime of field objects to more than 8 hours, though that will never happen practically in the game.

One day I approached a friendly field that was destroyed in an Osti as the enemy captured the field.  I turned around to get to a safe landing spot when I ran across the building the trucks spawn from.  I parked on the side of te building opposite the now enemy field with the intent to kill any trucks that spawned.

Initially the trucks were spawning 10 minutes apart but as I kept killing them they kept spawning faster and faster until, near the end, a new convoy would spawn every minute or two.

Tactically it helps to kill the convoys but eventually they will overwhelm a single attacker.

The problem is in finding the convoys.  Too often I have looked for one, but then got tied up fighting.  There have been a couple of times I have found and destroyed the the supply barges coming in to a port.

Clearly a bug, which I never have encountered.
