"Swastika in the gun sight" has several accounts where by VVS "fighters" have strafed enemy ground targets when there is no other air borne targets  and hey are about to rtb.

So historically one could argue that any fighter can adopt an attack role even if its only against jeeps and M3's.

For my part if if someone loads ord then they intend to carry out an "attack" function, so it seems logical that the mission should be scored as attack. It's tidy and indeed helpful such that players will by default be awarded score in the role they launch in.

In addition ( and separately) I also opine that there should one day be attack perks..... This would end the confusion of where perks go when bombing stuff from an attack plane or heavy fighter. Right now attack perks would not be very useful but when/ if  perked ordinance arrives then attack perks will be central to the ability to which ord can be selected when taking either a pure attack ac or using a "fighter" in an attack role.

I just noticed this in the hangar, and was wondering why.  the new yak-3 does not have bombs or rockets, heck,it doesent even have a drop tank, but it can be flown in fighter or attack mode.  if this is going to be standard, when will they change the ta-152,bf-109k-4,c-205,and bf-109f???

Why does it matter?
