I do like the idea of the Me323 being added and able to create a small forward vehicle hangar capable of spawning the halftracks, jeep and M8.  Marder I should be added at the same time which would also go on the list.  Could the Me323 manage a SdKfz 234 Puma?  It looks like it is right on the cargo weight limit and I am not sure about the size.

According to wikipedia the engines were counter rotating as well so, for what its worth, it wouldn't have torque issues.

Overall a very neat plane and very useful if used in places where enemy fighters were not present.

RngFndr,

Panzer III looks like it is about twice the doable weight for the Me323.  Still, the Marder I has a useful gun.

Nah, just the fast and dirty stuff on the internet.  Looks like the cargo limit for the Me323 was about 24,000lbs and the Panzer III looks to be over 45,000lbs.

Actually it wasn't. The CG-4A glider could carry a jeep, or a jeep trailer fully loaded with combat equipment, or a 75 mm howitzer, or a 37 mm anti-tank gun,  and specially designed airborne construction equipment including small graders and bulldozers.

The Me 321 (glider) had a much higher maximum load of 20,000 kg and could thus (barely) carry an early Panzer III or IV (none of them are in game).

Lighter armored vehicles a Wespe or a Marder I were about the upper limit for the Me 323

Could it manage a Puma?

Could it manage a Puma?

Judging by the weight alone, this should have been possible.

The Me 321, the glider predecessor of the Me 323 (which was never towed by the way), was flying and in service before the CG-4a

i stand corrected Lusche. here's a good article and photos of both.

Ah OK, could'a been the Glider I remember too.. Honestly don't recall the Engines..

Just remember film of the Clam shell doors swinging open, guys hopping out to guide the Bifold ramps down.. Ramps supported by a cable pulley under the cockpit.. Then a Panzer III  :huh driving out and down the ramps..

Thinking harder, the film was circa Summer 1940, buildup for operation Sealion period, and it was a Pz3 with a 37mm.. I have seen it multiple times, but haven't found it in my collection.. Damn, I hate that!
