Mission Planning Control Center
« on: August 04, 2013, 04:12:55 PM »
Hey everyone I'm just here to propose an idea and make sure to give your opinions on it or other ways the basic idea of this can work. To start off the basic idea of this MPCC (Mission Planning Control Center) is to basically have a channel or maybe even a room in game in which squadrons can communicate with one another and create large scale mission plans. Just a disclaimer I don't care what the name of this idea is. It can be Command Central or Squadron Planning for all I care. All I care about is the basic idea of this.

Anyway the general way this would work is you would have something like an HQ or very well the actual HQ in game. This room would be the place where possibly liaisons from each squadron in the game would coordinate with a mission planner to create large scale missions. There could be a mission plan map in the room in which squadrons could be tasked with different objectives. For example the 187th Dodo Birds could be tasked with taking out hangers at a vehicle base while the 1800th Dive Dombers would be tasked with bringing troops and taking out hangers at the vehicle base to the north of the main target. This would all be visible on a chart and map that has the basic information. Such as who is squadron leader, what route the flight is taking, secondary objectives, pilots in mission, squadron estimated time of arrival, etc.

This could lead to large scale complicated missions to take place in the game. Usually Aceshigh just consist of squadrons making missions by themselves or mission planners making missions in which individual pilots for the most part join in this large swarm of aircraft. In all my years of playing Aceshigh the most complicated mission I've ever seen was this semi simultaneous 3 base take mission. It consisted of a ground assault, a bomber run, and heavy fighters taking out 3 bases at once. Two of the bases were taking out around the same time, but one proved to be difficult. After a quick regroup though the base was taken about 10 minutes after the other 2.

The reasons I would like to see this is because missions only get so good and at time they can be rare. I feel as if country teamwork can be extended if given the right tools to do so.

Again though I'm just giving the basic idea of this and is no way the exact way I would like to see it implemented into the game. Just as another thing I would really like if you could actually enter the HQ in the game and have it look something along the lines of this. Maybe even have a self portrait of Hitech in there or something.

Well there it is what do you think?
Do you think a system like this should be put into Aceshigh?
Do you think people would actually use it?

I'd love to have something like this where objectives can be specified and multiple missions set up to help get that objective.

Just setting up your basic strats raid -
1.  Mossie mission to wack radars all along the route.
2.  Fighter sweep of airfields along the route.
3.  The actual bomber mission to the strats with escorts.

All shown on one nice mission HQ.   It would be lovely.

Would the mission planer then have to stay at the HQ or mission control center?

missions in AH = hordes 90% of the time

we don't need additional functionality to promote and encourage such stale gameplay

ahhhhh but if you could use the OPs idea for good instead of evil!!!

The central command could use 5 - 6 squads to hit 2 or 3 bases at once while creating a buffer along a second front by running a porking mission. Creating 3 different fighting areas with smaller groups. Defender would have a chance at possible stopping one or more missions and so fun could be had be even more people.

Great wish!  Air Warrior had a mission planning room where the flight leader could turn off the lights and type to the mission fliers with no interruption.  Lights go back on, and the pilots could ask questions.  A briefing room would be great.

It's only stale if you are on the receiving end taking one for your country. The guys in the mission are having fun.

It's only stale if you are on the receiving end taking one for your country. The guys in the mission are having fun.

It makes the entire gameplay across the map stagnate. One horde attacks one undefended base, horde on the other side attacks another undefended base, repeat ad nauseum.

Even if i'm not on the receiving end of the horde it still makes me log out in frustration. If you prefer to have fun in the midst of a cloud of green, all fighting one another to shoot down the few low planes trying to up from a capped field, then I guess there is just no hope for you.

As opposed to the UP - Furball till you get shot down - Up Again Ad Nauseum.

I'm sorry but the most fun to be had in this game in in Large Missions or FSO.  I think this idea, coupled with the other thread that advocates strats being taken down below a certain percentage for a war win is a big +1.

Maybe this couldn't work in the MA but in FSO it could.....
On more than one occasion our squad was on scouting duty and it would be nice to know where everyone is....
