Problem with my Thrustmaster T.16000M Joystick
« on: August 07, 2013, 06:48:59 PM »
Hi people!
First of all, excuse me my English. I am brazillian and English isn't my native language.
I couple months ago, I bought a new stick, Thrustmaster T.16000M and I have a big problem with it.
I tried everything and my stick continues to be very "lazy". I would like it could be more "nervous". In a hard dogfight my plane acts to slow in its movements. My stick doesn't make the plane to act more quick, more nervous. I need this stick acts more fast to my commands. My former sticks were better in a hard flight with a lot turns and directions. I tried scaling in every manner without success. I read there are many folks with the same stick and they're very satisfied with it.
I hope to receive some tips and possible solutions to solve this "lazy problem".
Regards!

I tried it Semp. It doesn't work. I think the problem is the magnetic sensors. It could be a good stick for bombers or who likes a smooth one.
I can't handle it. Unfortunatelly I will have to afford another one.
Thank you very much for the help anyway.
Regards!

I dont think it's the stick.  I think it's the settings.  post a picture of what your settings look like.

The hall effect sensors are very precise and should be very crisp and responsive. Try turning scaling off on all axis and seeing how "nervous" the stick is then. If you turn scaling off that should turn dampening and dead band off as well. Make sure you calibrate in windows first then in AH. At least I think that is still the proper procedure.

Like Semp says it sounds like your settings. If you could post a screen shot of them that might help us sort out your issue.

From what I understand there are quite a few players in AH using T16000's with very positive results.

Have you tried testing the stick in Windows?

I felt the same way, but happily. To me it seems that the T16000M requires a longer stroke. I can still yank the stick to blackout and to ride the stall horn. The trade off is no jerkiness when lining up the dot on the red guy. Embrace your higher hit percentage and k/d ratio. :)

My scaling sliders are at the top with default dead band and dampening.

if you need more response near the center of the stick adjust your scaling in that effect, but I wouldn't advise that because you will loose a lot of precision, stall easier and get 'don't move your controls....' messages.

Its not because you pull the stick harder that the plane will always turn tighter, there is a lot more parameters to take into account.

I've been using the T16000 for a few years now and I really enjoy it, il will never go back to analog pots like CH's.

I am pleased with all replies. Thanks for it!  :aok

Well, it seems really better in the last couple "sessions". Now, I can fight with some chance to kill.  :)
I put all scale at top and the dead band at the default.
Well, almost the same like Gooss.  :aok
I took a screen shoot to show it.
Once again, thank very you much bros!

I used to fly with Scaling off on the X, and on for the Y axis...until I had to fly a spit and had my controls freeze at every near stall  :joystick:

I set damping to zero and only use enough deadband to not have manned ack guns or vehicles creep.

Great Joystick. I'm on my second T16000.  After about 18 months the first one could not hold it's center no matter how much I calibrated.  I just wore it out.
I'll be ordering #3 just to have a new one in reserve.

Cheers!!
