« on: August 08, 2013, 02:12:29 PM »
:airplane: This probably should be in the wish section, but can AH have a discrete vox channel that we could have anyone on that channel, play an MP3 recording of some kind! I am thinking of special effects recordings and etc. Comments Please!

I think it would work if it had limited access like two stars and above and or some sort of signup to prevent abuse.

It would be neat to have some sort of era related radio stuff.

 Earl,

IIRC HTC implemented the Miles sound system so that we could at some point do exactly what you're asking for.  Where it's state of development is I cant say, maybe HTC can comment at some point and bring us all up to date on this.

there's many programs such as skype or ts3 that can do what you ask in the background.  I believe within the game one transmission must finish before the next one plays so somebody playing music would not let any other transmission thru.

Sending sound across the internet will play havoc with your ping times.

The question you have to ask is "what do I want to do?.........fly or play sounds?"

I listen to music on youtube while playing the game.   find epic music and play ah there will be times when the music is so cool while you are fighting that you think you got a new game.

I stream Trance through Winamp from www.di.fm while playing.  Ping times are unaffected.

:airplane: We use "Mumble" now on our squad at times, but what I would like to do, which I do now manually, is be able to download a recording into the game, call it up on a discrete channel when we are flying missions to add to the atmospheres of the mission. I have a remote recorder which I hold up to the mike and press "T" for the Vox channel we are on, but that leaves a lot to be desired. Just think of it, in the battle of Britain, coming up, as we are climbing out to do mortal combat in the skies over England, to listen to Winston Churchill's famous speech where he said, "Never has so much, owed by so many, to so few", in praising what the RAF fighter pilots were doing defending England. Awe inspiring to say the least. Of course I know I am a History lover, so please forgive me!

:airplane: there is nothing wrong with playing it on Mumble, except that a lot of other players who do not belong to our squad, do not have Mumble! Most missions that I post, usually will have 3 or 4 other squad members in our missions, so therefore, for all to enjoy, I need to be able to play it on the VOX channel which we are using for the mission.

as far as I know you can only have one transmission going on at the same time.  so if you play music or whatever then nobody else can transmit so your additional members will basically be muted.

:airplane: If you are tuned to a certain VOX channel and I press my mike key, everyone on that channel will hear what I am putting on that channel! Range cuts off after 4 seconds, so that won't work.
