Ability to get out of tank
« on: August 10, 2013, 12:15:07 PM »
I wish that we could park our tank and get out of it and be able to run around. The guy could have a pair of binoculars to look through. Then you could come back and get back in it when you wanted to, granted it wasn't shot while you were out of it. It could certainly add a whole new element to the GV game.

I suggested this in another wish thread.   :aok

If this is done, the temorarily dismounted GV commander should be visible to the same degree as a bailed-out pilot, and the GV should be stationary and uncontrollable until the commander re-joins.  If either are killed, both are killed.

Exactly. You would be just as vulnerable outside your tank as a bailed pilot. 100% agree with your entire post except for the part about being killed. If the tank is killed I don't see any reason the commander should die. Could still sit out there and spot. However, if the commander is killed, the tank should die as well.

Pilot with binoculars would be great. At long range you could not see the pilot at the crest of a hill. He is too small.
He could get on his stomach and peek over the hill. Dr7 would always be doing that LOL.  :D :D

If pilot dies, you can't go to commanders position.

I think this is too complicated, and will discourage HTC from considering the idea.  If commander dies when dismounted, make GV die as well and up a new one.

Sounds simple enough. Plus it's direct.  Not only that if the tank was destroyed what is the 'pilot' aka commander supposed to do? Kill enemy tanks with his 45 and binoculars?  :rofl

I actually wish that bailed out pilot would automatically tower in a short time, maybe 1-2 minutes. If you are nearer to an enemy base the pilot is captured and that is that. If someone wants to guide artillery or recon then they could use a vehicle or an aircraft. Maybe give the jeep an observer position and binoculars. Or introduce manned guard towers, ground troops, snipers etc. Sometimes the bailed out pilot runs around near the base and it is very difficult to discover them. This would also prevent maproom camping a little. What chance would a pilot with his revolver have against 10 infantry troops?

How about this?

If you die while outside the tank, you have 5 minutes to arrive back at the tank in a chute so you can get back in.

AI holds your tank stationary much like it does when you get a disco/reconnect.

Since you chuted out of a plane, you will still collect the loss of the plane.
