Aviation Documentary TV Series
« on: August 19, 2013, 10:26:56 AM »
I'm looking to collect a list of TV Series about aviation.

So far (from the most favorite):

- National Geographic: Air Crash Investigation (aka Mayday)
- History Channel: Dogfights
- Heroes of the Skies
- Discovery: Wings, with subseries: Great Planes, Strange Planes, Wings of the Luftwaffe, Wings of the Red Star and Sea Wings.
- Wings Of Russia

What also would you recommend?

Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Hunters in the Sky was one of my favorites.  I don't think it aired as a series, if memory serves it was originally sold as VHS collection, later it was re-issued on DVD.  Was filmed back 1991 and has interviews with many of the aces who have since passed.

Actually it is the same series called "Heroes of the Skies" of History Channel:

(Mentioned it in the original message)

And it is very nice indeed, however I haven't seen them all, I saw about George Beurling, Douglas Bader and Robin Olds

i quite enjoy the series. It covers history of the individual or group such as the red tails and gets into concepts such as lead angle and acm. I would recommend the series to anyone interested in the era which is most likely everyone on the site lol

Strange Planes ,an old BBC series that is a must see!

There are a couple of other BBC shows about A/C but the names escape me.

Dsiney Pixar Looks like they are coming out with a good Documentry called Planes , it is a follow up to their documentry cars. Also there used to be a series called Wings that gave you a good look into the workings of a small Nanatucket Airport.
