WWI arena fun
« on: August 23, 2013, 03:59:17 PM »
I had not really checked it out since my first go around back in ~06, but I did yesterday and had a lot of fun.

If you haven't checked it out just for fun do so sometime. It doesn't take very long to get into a dogfight, in many cases much quicker than the MA, and as long as you don't try to vulch the ack isn't anything to worry about.

It occurred to me that maybe that's actually where I (maybe everybody) should really start to get a better idea of ACM-slow speed maneuvering. Learning to manage my E there was eye opening and gave me a lot of food for thought about low speed situations applicable to the MA. Using rudder and learning turn/speed/stall characteristics has a lot of correlation to some of the same situations found in turning fights with the dedicated turners.

Give it a shot.

:salute  Logs, dirty88mm & the others I encountered the other day.

A great surprise of fun!

Agreed, you feel like you have more time to think being the slower combat, but I found it has improved my acm and control in the stall.

I love the WW1 arena, just wish more people went to it. The first week it was up was a blast! A while back when we had a good 15 people in there I had a fantastically fun time in a non-stop 9 minute long fight. It evolved from 1v1 to 3v1 and back to 1v1 the whole time. One of my favorite moments in all of Aces high.  :aok

+1 Hopefully more people will find there way there, so far I found you don't have to wait long to get an other or a few more in the arena all it takes is hoping in and waiting a few  :salute

a side note, I doubt I would win but anytime Latrobe if you see me in game pm me and I would meet you there. might end in a fiery death but would be fun none the less.

It truely was. Full of people and I could pick on the two-weekers.
Last time I ventured into it, there were only like 4 players on, and I got whacked like a two-weeker myself  :uhoh

Also fun to get a buddy to man the f2 turret. That thing will shoot forward over the wing.

WW1 arena is a hoot. I always look to see if it's populated and many times if it isn't I will poodle about on my own in there hoping for someone to join in. Unfortunately it's rare but when I have had fights they have been good without exception. What concerns me is: if the numbers rise, so do the idiot squad and right now the WW1 arena is something relatively pure and skill based, as the DA used to be many years ago :old:

Pervert:  did anyone give you instruction in there to transfer what you learned to the Fw190, or just click on your own?

Danny: what I've seen in there so far actually resembles etiquette, something that is rare in the LW. I don't think you need to worry about what you stated.

Oh yes, first week was indeed great - miss that one.

As a delicious bonus, we also got to shoot HTC staff  :P
