Cool looking animation

In older radial-engines one of the connection rods were solid master-rod (just like in cars) where other rods were connected in its bearing-frame.

Fascinating stuff! I've never seen what the inside of one a radial engine in motion looks like. For the Pratt & Whitney Double Wasp R-2800, they used 2 rows of 9 cylinders instead of the single row of 5 in the page linked above.

Why didn't they do a triple or quadruple row radial for even more power? Why are there odd numbers of cylinders used?

The P&W R-4360 "Wasp Major" had 28 cylinders in 4 rows.
