Battleships!

:airplane: I think the addition of at least 2 BW's, the Iowa class and the Yamato would add a whole new dimension to the Aces High game and would certainly, with the proper advertising, would attract new players to the game. Of course, a whole new set of rules would have to be implemented for the sake of using these vessels to their fullest potential in the game. To move the "fleet" which one of the Battlewagons were attached to, you would have to post a mission, plot its track and you would have a 45 min or so time window when no one else could direct the fleet. It would have to require a lot more tonnage of bombs to sink the wagon, and more torpedo's than just one to sink the ship.
I can see a lot of new players, who have no interest in flying, coming into the game and adding a whole new set of situations in which the aviators could try to intercept and sink the big boats. The big boats would, of course, with their 16 inch guns, could wreak havoc on a base of intend capture. Interesting thought anyway, what do you guys think?
Blue Skies and wind at my back and wish that for all!!!

Personally I don't think it would draw new players to the game. The sea action is very limited in this game. The advantage of the 16 inch guns would be negated by the game play of bringing the fleet right up to shore to shell a town and launch LVTs. Also when talking about restricting anyone else from adjusting the track for 45 minutes your running into that territory or restricting a PAYING customer from doing what he/she would like.

Being a Navy guy myself I could see a few changes that "could" make the sea battles a LOT more fun, but then again todays game play would just walk all over it and twist it to the quickest and easiest way to grab bases.  :cry

I still vote to have AI driven Fleets of transports and Cargo haulers drive around the map, thus way we have something to torpedo kind of like Strat targets.

I'm for battleships.  Design them so they cannot come closer than 25K to a base.

The problem with extra fleets is that is a lot of data for positioning that has to be updated often in the game to each player. I seem to remember reading that there was a restriction of the number of CV fleets you could have when building a map for that reason. Even if you could have the extra fleets how would they work once bombed? Would they start back at a port...and so never getting far along their track because people would milk run them as soon as they could. Or after they are hit, continue along their track as a never ending journey to a number of ports and then return along the same track? This way people would just run in and out hitting the same cargo/transports group over and over again once the track was known .... and you know that wouldn't take long to learn. And on top of that all, what would it do in the game other than giving people another easy target to pork that is  :D
