Aces High is the first game I have ever played on-line, I was astonished how inferior my play was to everyone else's. Addicted to competition, such as I am, I was hooked line and sinker. Now how do I leach the hard earned knowledge that the uber cool guys have and I don't without pissing them off by looking like a freeloading tag along. I thought maybe if they see me as someone they can use as bait to get kills with they might put up with me longer. Ok Ill go by the call sign "killb8". Then Ill change it to something cool once I've learned all they have to teach. That was 5 years ago :cry

Name them your Fighter Pilot Heros, admire them, honour then, respect them, and be thankful for every encounter with them.  If not for my FPHs, I would not be as good as I am today after now two, almost three, years to where I can now pwn 95% or so of pilots at will (not to sound braggy). :)

Truth is find the best, learn from them, and one day, with some luck, you'll be among the best too. :aok

Everyone asks where "Gorf" came from so here it is....years ago ('06 I think) during my 2 week, I just put down the first thing that came to mind, I later realized "Gorf" was the name of an Arcade game I used to play in the early 80's...My online name for every other online game i've ever played since the 90's was "Conlan" or "ConlanAbu"

"Handle" is CB radio talk, in aviation it's a "call sign."  Personal C/S's many times relate to some less than stellar part of your history like a friend of mine who's C/S was Pig.  That came up from his less than high standards when it came to picking up girls in bars.  Boom got his C/S from a blown tire on takeoff.  It became Boom Boom after he blew a second tire.  Fridge got his by drilling a hole through a wall and right into the cooling coils of our ready room refrigerator.  My C/S has been Mace since 1980 so it was an easy enough answer when I started in AH.  Unlike many of the other C/S's the origin of mine is simple enough, it's just a contraction of my last name but it's always stuck with me.

Mine is kind of simple i thought the callsign Tracerfire would be cool to have but the 8 character limit shot that idea down and because i was very tired i just took out the "re" and called it a day

Banshee!!  Glad you found your way here man, welcome to the game, hope ya love it as much as I.

I played as Zoney here for over 3 years then decided to Join JG11 and make a commitment to Luftwaffe only aircraft.  I wanted it to be a strong commitment so I decided to change my handle and now Fly proudly with JG11 as "Hartmann", the worlds leading fighter ace with 352 kills.  When I looked to see if the name was taken I was amazed that it was not so I grabbed it.

JG11 does not recruit.  We do accept new members on a trial basis and after a bit you can decide if it is the right squad for you and we can decide if you are the right pilot for us.  Squadron CO is "Stampf".  I always like playing with you in Warbirds and respected your gameplay or I would not even mention to you anything about JG11.  You must make a commitment to Luftwaffe aircraft exclusively.  Like in Warbirds there is a fantastic historical scenario operation every Friday called "FSO", Friday Squad Operations.  It is even better here then there and JG11 is a very strong participant in that endeavor.

FYI, if you remember me from WarBirds let me assure you I have completely changed in how I treat my fellow players.

Again, really glad you found your way here Banshee, now know as "Blinder"  :salute

Back at ya Zoney!  :salute

Yes I think I remember you from WB. if I remember correctly, you were pretty deadly with a 190. I think it was you one time we came at each other HO and I put a well placed 37mm from my P-39 right through your big BMW radial. You cursed at me the whole way down.  ;)

when I used to play in air warrior, I was one of the best gunners in b17's around.  but I would crash a lot of my planes either taking off or landing.  so here in aces high I came up with the guncrasher id when the "semp" id was already taken when I joined.

my brother first used semp(er fi), as he was a marine just like my father, in AW  when  he retired I took over and have kept it since then, after a couple of years of flying as guncrash, "semp" became available and I took it and have kept it since then.

you dont want me to ho, dont point your plane at me.

When I joined I figured I would suck alot, and that's why I called myself 'Lusche'. After about 2 years I didn't suck that much anymore, but more importantly I was tired by all the "how do you pronounce it?" questions.
So I changed the ID to 'Snailman' which has no particular history to it. It was funny, easy to pronounce for you US guys and somewhat original. ;)

Hajo = nickname for Hans Joachim.  Had this nick way back in AW.

BTW Hans Joachim Hermann was the leader of JG300 Wilde Sau  (Wild Boar) I flew the A8 in AW so used the nickname.

Believe it or not, "Loki" is an old family nickname bestowed on me by my older brother. I try to live up to it in the game being as sneaky, devious, and clever as possible. In Norse mythology Loki was a trickster and constant troublemaker, but he also frequently got the more straightforward (and dumb) Aesir, especially Thor, out of jams they'd gotten themselves into.

When I signed up I wanted the name Tennessee.  It was taken, so I went with JC my initials.

I eventually saw the guy in the DA who had the Tennessee callsign.

"Hey what part of TN you in?"

"I live in California "

"Are ya from TN?"

"Nope never even lived there"

Started out late 1996 in Warbirds as kaka ( Swedish for cookie)
I had a habit of hanging over own airfield at altitude and killing enemies trying for own guys running home, "thanks for the Save" was often the comment.
When my credit card expired I changed my name to save , later -save- and year 2000 finally =save=

I just took the name over here, when I migrated here.

My ammo last for 6 Lancasters, or one Yak3.
"And the Yak 3 ,aka the "flying Yamato"..."
