A reminder.
« on: September 11, 2013, 10:41:33 AM »
I visit this website only on this date every year. RIP to those who were taken hostage. Thanks and RIP to those who ran to the scene to save others.   :salute :pray

Seems like even in here the day has lost its importance.

It's easy to imagine with the cultural texture we have in America today that the day will be as forgotten as the day the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.

Here's a story about a small muni golf course in Wisconsin that ran a promotion for a 9-hole round for $9.11 to mark the anniversary. They'll have a cop on-site for the day because of all the negative complaints and death threats against the course.

It was one of the most incredible live news broadcasts I have ever watched as well as one of the saddest. I was glued to the screen. The images are burned into my brain indelibly.

This ^^ I remember and honor the fallen in my own way, doesn't mean my way is better or worse than any other person touched by the events of today 12 years or 1 year ago, just different then most I guess.

<S> to those who will always remember
The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.

As a member of the young generation. I still take 9/11 personally......

Cheez TV, the greatest children's comedy cartoon program on at 6-AM before elementary school (primary school here) was cancelled on September 11th 2001, after CNN took over broadcasts on all channels. When our troops moved in on the people responsible... it was personal... no more Pokemon and Dragonball Z for a month.... it would not stand.

On a serious note, while I do not believe we know the truth about what happened that day (not going to discuss that here) the people that died on that day just went to work like anyone else, and some (insert expletive) holes decided that they were going to kill people.

RIP

We must never forget it.  :salute

Well, as one of the first 200 U.S. troops into Afghanistan that killed as many of those hajji bastards as I possibly could, I'm inclined to give some of you a big "screw you" for all the families are still losing loved ones to this day because of that fateful day.  Treat it as just another day to play with your joysticks all you want, but to some of us it was a life changing day that will NEVER be forgotten or treated as just another day. I'll leave this conversation now before I start getting fired up.

Out.

I almost lost a cousin at the Pentagon.  It's personal to me, but I cannot watch the footage over and over.   I still fly the flag from Dawn to Dusk and no one else on my street does.   I also brought home my newborn son and wife home from the hospital.   I'll never forget, but I do my best.

Saddly there are people still dying today as a result of this tragedy!   Many first responders and their families are paying the as I type this.

I have a close friend who finally passed after 12 years of fighting the effects of being a first responder!

To those fallen and still falling!     :salute
