You have to admit it, like it or not, Aces High is all about tanks now. When the Greebo map cycles through everyone, and I mean everyone, is in TT. Fields are captured now with the venerable M3, and not the goon. Oh, there are exceptions, but that's the gist of it. Every time a general calls out for a mission, his pleas for help are quickly followed by "fifty-five of team X are in TT tanks. Whoa is me!" and then threatens to quit all while lamenting the loss of air combat and true flight simulation. And it makes sense that AH should have tanks, but it is still not complete. AH needs infantry. Why? Because boots on the ground are the ultimate triumph of air power! Yes, the game will have to change even more, in order to embrace the presence of infantry. Also, it's true that the tears and whines will continue to flow as that change comes about. That is the price of evolution after all; evolution and progress always make people uncomfortable.
You know this to be true, because every time TT is captured by the villainous enemy it splits the opposing countries down the middle between fliers and tankers.
Are airplanes finished? Is the furball dead? No, not as long as one breath of air remains to be had for the sim. Propeller-heads will keep the genre alive for us, don't you worry. But don't hate on the tankers, because they help to support our sim as much as we help to support theirs. Aces High really is the best tank game out there, as much as people hate on it. There are still problems, but I also see a lack of posts in the bugs forum reporting them. Why? It couldn't be because furballers scare off the tankers is it? Yes, I think so. So, back off furballers! Accept your GV brethren, so that we may embrace the richer combat environment!
Bring on the infantry! Give us the FPS!
