About Game For A Cause:
Game For A Cause(GFAC) is an organisation set up with one thing in mind. Using online gaming as a means of fundraising for charities. It is an organisation that has grown out of one gaming communities desire to do more than just play games.
The team at
iOGC.co.uk had initially planned to run just one event annually in aid of two charities that have unfortunately become affiliated with their community. It became apparent that a larger amount of good could come from the idea and Game For A Cause was born.
We aim to be a forum for gamers across the globe to raise money for charities of their choice and each event will raise funds for two small charities. Anyone can register at
www.gameforacause.co.uk and suggest a charity and even include some background as to why they would like to see that charity supported by us if they wish.
Our First Event:
Our first event will run on the 21st of September 2013. We have a server set up to play a mixed campaign mode with maps from both RO2 and RS. The server will be running Realism.
We currently have the server set for 64 slots (..filling up fast) and this server will be pass worded.
For up to date information about the event including the amount of slots left see the "Events" section of the Game For A Cause website.
As this is a charity event we are asking people to consider, if possible, donating to our cause via
http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/iogcIn order to gain access to the event you will have to sign up at
www.gameforacause.co.uk and register your self for the event. Donating players will have priority over the available slots, and if you have donated you should send a copy of your donation confirmation to the GFAC admin team.
In addition to that warm feeling inside you get from knowing you have been part of something great, any donations over $5 will be entered into a raffle where 4 lucky people will win one of our very kindly donated CD key prizes.
The Future:
Game For A Cause has some big things in mind for the future and we need you, the players, to be involved. If there is a game you think would be great fun to play as a charity event feel free to contact us via our site. Any feedback and input is welcomed. As this is our first public event there may be minor details that change but everything will be documented at our website.
We hope people share the enthusiasm that we have for the future of charity gaming.
