When it came out it was the biggest screwup/ripoff probably in gaming history. Last I heard the player base saved it with Mods, "Whats that tell you when a company makes a player base save their game"? I couldnt tell you whats its status now. I bought it on the cheap but last time I opened it there was like 4 people on the servers.

It was a debacle. I always suspect Maddox games of posting phony reviews on the net. It was a textbook method of how not to release a game because the damage done to your brand is not worth the $$ you scammed out of your player base by releasing an Alpha game. Now they forced themselves to have to align with 777 Studios to save whats left of their name.

Want my opinion? Wait a month or two until "Battle for Stalingrad" comes out and even then wait for player reviews before spending $$ on it.

It's a great little game if you get it for cheap pennies :)

Full realism is fantastic :)

Limited to BoB only though, which is a shame. :(

Silent Hunter 4. The SubSim forum modders made it a decent game.

Rich is right, it was a major toss job at the start, but there is a new patch that came out a few months back, if you head over to simhq.com they'll tell you all about it, it's in the main articles still.  It's called the "Team Fusion" mod, and it makes CloD an amazing game now, especially when you can hunt around and find it for 10$ or less, like I did.   http://www.simhq.com/_air15/air_547a.html

I've already prepurchased the new Il2 game as well, but for such a cheap deal, and such a great mod/patch, it's still worth it to try out CloD if you like BoB type flying.  Also, there are a billion uTube videos of the Team fusion mod being used, check them out as well.

Yeah, Team Fusion makes CloD playable.  The problem with CloD's development was that Oleg left in the middle of development (about a year and half before the game was released) and "Luthier" took over as producer and developer and that's when CloD's development started to go downhill.  Luthier's involvement with 777 in developing the new IL2 game has me worried since it was his lack of leadership that lead to CloD being a dog.

Waiting for next patch to be released.
Right now cons vanish from screen between 1500 yards down to ~500, and other issues.

I played this again for a few hours last night, seriously, for the 10 pounds 15$ I've found CloD for sale at in the last few minutes of checking, anyone who dismisses it is really missing out.  The high alt intercepts of incoming raids are worth that much for even a couple hours of play IMO, and it's got SO much more to offer thanks to the Team Fusion mod.
