Losing half ammo instead of killshot
« on: October 02, 2013, 11:30:40 PM »
What if when you shot an friendly you lost a 50%percent of ammo or something instead of taking damage. Sometimes as I get close to the enemy I zoom in narrowing my view. I pick a shot with my tater and knock the tail off a enemy as a friendly flies by, I see no sprite on the friendly so I'm guessing was explosive damage. Would much rather lose a percent or all ammo than my jet and receive a achievement.
 Thx

bagrat on the other side of the coin, you would see a lot more guys just shooting trying to clear your 12 after all it wont affect your plane anymore.  specially if close to base.

The current penalty does a pretty good job at walking the fine line between preventing (and punishing) unwanted behavior and not putting excessive punishment on inadvertent occurrences. If you're prone to try and clear somebody's 12 so you can get a kill, you're probably willing to give up 1/2 your ammo to do it. Having guns jam is a pretty stiff price to pay for an accidental occurrence, but it's less severe than blowing up and at least I get to try and make it home. Of the two, I like the gun jamming better.

You don't have to jam all the guns during the first occurrence.........

If you want to prevent the goobers who think it might be worth it for a kill you might!

I take the point but damage done is already reflected back onto the perpetrator with Kill shooter. So a quantum damage mechanism is in place. Hence the proportion of guns jamming could be gained from a measure of the damage that would have been inflicted.

Killshooter is the perfect deterrent against team-killing griefers. Shoot a friendly - damage is done to your plane, not his. This also encourages trigger discipline for most other players. Killshooter should not be changed. No other system could possibly be as fair or effective.

All for the guns jamming too.

I get that you guys want to limit the horde flying  800-600 yard guy shooting over friendlies to get a kill. I think losing all ammo or guns jamming (even temporarily) would work as effectively. There is very much two sides to the coin and as is only punishes one end. Because it is a game nobody flies as safe as they should or would. I'm not constantly watching all friendly before I pull my trigger and a friendly who dives in front of 2 friendlies for a kill certainly wasn't watching out for me. Nobodies fault as we are relaxed playing a game, just think there a better way to deal with these accidental occurrences as well the much unwanted horde kill stealing.

There is a funny use for Killshooter. Recently I formed up with an enemy fighter who was clearly AFK. I just sat off his wing waiting for him to come back. Then I saw EAce sneaking up for the easy kill so I interposed my aeroplane. Sure enough he went for the shot anyway and took his own tail off  :lol

No, the enemy needs to have an opponent removed from the fight due to the opposition's poor fire control.  Completely removed.  There are numerous ways to affect a fight without ammo when there should be one less enemy aircraft.

Good point. The result of friendly fire would be one friendly plane damaged or destroyed. The current model yields that result, even if it's the "wrong" plane.

I say leave as it is.  Also, if you're firing away and an allied player swoops in front of your fire it is your own fault for not paying attention.  I'm in my 6th year and it has happened to me twice.  Once, while zoomed in all the way in a P38, another player dove in front me towards another target and by chance it was right as I fired, the quad .50's and 20mm hit dead center of the cockpit.  The second time I was zoomed in all the way in a King Tiger, I fired just in time for a T34/76 to block out my view and "puuf", up in smoke my King Tiger went.

Don't cry when you hit someone else, and don't cry when someone shoots over your shoulder.  Likewise, don't cry when you're involved in a HO (win or lose regardless( because it take TWO people to even mention that event.  ;)

I understand the wish Rat, but the potential for annoyance and increase in shoulder shooters is way to high Sir.  -1
