Checked out the new scoring page..very nicely done.
Can someone explain the scoring system, specifically how the rankings for Fighter are arrived at? I notice some people with very average K/D and K/S rations are ranked very high in the Fighter category. Does time online somehow factor in?
Also, is there some way of displaying rank according to K/D or K/S like in the past?

Average K/D may also include deaths while flying in a bomber, so don't always go by K/D ratio. If you die in a bomber it won't affect your fighter rank. I believe hit % also has an affect on ranking.

As far as I know the fighter rank is determined by how you do in each of the fighter-skills: K/D, K/S, K/T, Hit% and points.
The overall fighters skill should be aquired by adding your individual rank in each of these five skills and looking at the sum. The one with the lowest sum gets rank #1. Reason that people with only average K/D and K/S might be ranked high can simply be because they fly so much that they get points enougnto rank very high in the points department, so for instance an efficient but not very regular flier can get get 30:30:30:30:200=320 rank points (lower is better) while an average pilot (or just one that don't care about score) that flies a lot maybe can get 60:60:60:60:10=250.
That would put the latter in a higher fighter-rank than the former.

Snefens is right.

Many people also are not ranked as high as one might guess because their hit % and/or Kills/Time are poor. I make up for a less than spectacular K/D and K/S in the other 3 categories.

Someone who is ranked in the top 10 in 4 categories, and #1000 in the other, will be ranked about the same as someone who is ranked # 200 in all 5.

To do well in the rankings, it is more important to not suck in any areas, than it is to do very well in some.

The points you see in your Fighter stats are unrelated to perk points correct? At least, mine don't match by a wide margin. If they aren't perk points, can somebody explain them?
Also, I can't seem to find on the scoring page, an area that shows how you rank in each category, K/D for example. You used to be able to see this.

Havnt used the current stat pages much, as all current entries seems to be corelated to quantitative measurements, ie ultimativly a function of your time spent online.

K\D was a measurement that could be used regardless of the no-job/no-life demands, however - like bowser - I havnt been able to find it.

This alone makes the current stats a step backwards.

Actually, only points are related to time spent online.

If a good player were to fly just one good fighter sortie, he could be ranked very well in 4 out of the 5 fighter sub-categories.
In bombers he could also be ranked very well in 3 out of the 5 bomber sub-categories. Attack: 8 out of 9. Vehicle/Boat: 9 out of 10.

I think it would be possible to be ranked in the top 20 with only 5 sorties. (1 fighter, 1 attack, 1 Vehicle/Boat, 1 bomber and 1 goon/re-arm-get-multiple-fields.)

Rereading the score pages I will have to give you right ;=)

Still miss a more transparent system a lot though.K/D's, streaks, plane specific ranks ect - all pilots on one list.Something like deft's pages http://warbirds.jackedin.com/

But again: rereading the score pages it just comes down to IMO ;=)

Well if indeed time online is a factor in overall fighter ranking, that's fine, you can take it for what it's worth.
It would be nice to see ranking of K/D and K/S though. Most guys use these two stats to see how they're progressing and how they stack up against the competition.

I agree bowser. The actual system does some weird things indeed. K/S and K/D are very useful infos, IMHO.
