It can be done in AH2
« on: October 06, 2013, 07:48:11 PM »
You can't fly the B-25H off a CV in AH2. Right? Wrong. On offline practice, you can, but it won't fly. You can fly it off a CV though. To put it simply, drain all gun ammo when on deck. Move the B-25H so it's wing won't be in the way of the guns. Then lift off manually. Be sure to pull back on the stick/yoke from the beginning of your takeoff. You should then lift off, but only if you're carrying 25% fuel and the smallest available bomb payload. Not very useful, but It's still cool to know that it can be done.

Crack the throttle and let it roll backwards to the very end of the deck before taking off.

Use to do that with B-17's back when I was with the Bloody Hundredth...

Also, after some more testing, the C-47 can also take off from a CV. Wishlist time?

In real life C-130s have taken off and landed on carriers unassisted (no cables or catapults), so why not a C-47!

Because they do not do it operationally.

You can take off in a B25, even a Lancaster if you are skilled enough.

C-130 lands on a Forrestal class CV (U.S.S. Forrestal CVA-59) in 1963.

Different carriers, different times. In real life a C-47 never did this on an Essex class CV. The B-25s
were craned onto the decks (and stripped light for the mission).

Oooooh!!

Would be cool to see even light b25s able to take off from a cv. Imagine all that prey.. Uh, I mean um.. firepower coming to a base. That would be cool  :D

+1 :)

These are most excellent achievements sir. Next perhaps for your next challenges try:

Lancaster Take off with full bomb load to landing and refuel on a CV to 2nd take off:

Then just for fun, the Arado 234!

And I don't know much, but I do know this. With a golden heart comes a rebel fist.

Showoff.

Interesting tidbit about Doolittle's Raiders.  They had to time thier take-offs to coincide with the bow of the Hornet pointing up at the top of a swell.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Try adding some headwind.

The real thing would have had at least a 30-knot headwind, from the carrier's forward motion.  Since Yorktown was steaming into the wind when they lauched in 1942, there was probably more.

Already happened...I believe I recall the B-25C being enabled on CVs for the anniversary of the Doolittle raid.
