Boot logged on players inactive for ??? amount of time (LWA)
« on: October 08, 2013, 09:45:46 AM »
If a player is logged on and inactive, meaning,

*sitting in the tower not typing,
*in play but not moving, shooting, or typing,

for some yet to be determined amount of time, can they be booted from the late war arena?

What would be the correct amount of time?

This could prevent some serious game play problems that occur mostly in the early morning hours where 1 or 2 teams get unrealistic high ENY as a result. This can ruin game play for 20 or 30 people.

Most likely cause for this is players staying logged on to get war win perks.

Possibly put the timer in the local copy so no bandwidth is used up except to report a time out.

High ENY provides a perfect opportunity to try out some rides that aren't the P51D, LA7, Spit16, etc, etc. Take advantage of it. :)

I mostly fly planes like the LA5 and Mossie 6 which are still available with high ENY.

This wish is for the overall good of the players everywhere.

Why should a few selfish prima donnas get to screw up others fun time?

:lol OMG just got mental picture of player sitting in a field gun going around in circles to bypass this if implemented.

Done by taping joystick a little off center.  :x

if that true the simplest solution is to stop awarding perks for war win altogether.

What is the actual intention of ENY?

Is it so that one may fly a highly perked ac every now and then at a discount from the standard cost?

Is it to keep hordes from outnumbering the nme in uber craft?

Is it so that ppl who spend their perks can fly low eny craft and regain lost perks at an acceptable rate?

Is it to make it harder to win the war when the numbers are very favorable to one side?

Is it all of one, all of those, or some combination to include anything I may have overlooked?

To the OP, yes, it can be a problem, I have seen it many times; guys in tower that haven't had a sortie that anyone knows about for hours. Try taking a base from a cv when the eny is high...

If it has anything to do with winning the war, then get rid of it, it has never stopped a base take, or the map roll that I've noticed.

They're casting their bait over there, see?

While it is used for several things, and probably things I'm not aware of, in the case of the OP it is limiting their ability to fly some late war rides because the arena balance is off. When one side gains too much of an advantage, measured, I believe, as a percentage rather than a number, of players logged in to each country, a limitation is placed on what planes can be flown by the country with the numerical advantage. This limitation is based on the ENY of the planes and vehicles.

The Big Lebowski.

The one thing I will say about the idea of kicking people for idling is it would stop the unintentional idlers.  I've on occasion logged what I thought was temporarily, but then didn't get back to the computer for a day or so.  I wouldn't have had an issue if I'd been kicked.

Anyone who's using it for some purpose, no matter how lame it is, will find a way to beat it.

The question is, are the majority of these people doing it intentionally or not?  If not, it might have good effects.  If so, the effect will be negligible because it's too easy to bypass.

No tape or other mechanical solutions needed. Just do a quick faulty stick calibration and your field gun keeps rotating.

I can already see all available barrels at base A1 turning in circles for hours...  :lol
