finding bombers!!!
« on: October 10, 2013, 08:03:49 AM »
Being New to Aces high I must ask A stupid question,,,,,,,, When is the best time of day " east coast"  to find large bomber streams in AH? My main goal and why I fly is to hunt down and destroy as many bombers as possible,,,, I fly 190s almost exclusively, so until my whole squad starts flying here regularly " and they will be" Im looking for a squad to tag along with in the scenarios. You will find Im very proficient in bomber killing,, I never ever attack from the 6,,, always from the 10 and 2 o clock high diving at cockpit. Rrely getting pinged,,,,,,,, I must say the gunners are very accurate here as well so its a little harder here then that other sim, but just takes more patience. So Im open to invites to tag along with some great pilots :aok

Yes and yes.

There are occasional missions, but they are few and far between.

Regarding finding bombers in general, the place is at least as important as the time. Of course it is more likely to find buffs when more players are online, so the best time frame is around US prime time.
But you have to identify the targets most likely to be attacked by bombers, anticipate their movements and altitudes. You have to think like a bomber pilot to hunt one  :old:

I like to lurk near Vehicle bases for bombers.  There always seem to be Lancasters lining up to be slaughtered.  :devil

Another good tactic for finding bombers is to loiter around friendly cvs that are near the front lines. You likely will not get large groups but often get steady streams of single formations.

Friday Squad Operations (FSO) is also a good place to face bomber streams. JG11 is usually axis and usually facing bombers in all but the early war setups. Look us up at the JG11 website.

You can also watch for large dar bars forming behind enemy lines. They are usually bomber missions on the way to the strats. Not always the case though, If ET37 is on he runs b17 missions to enemy bases to shut the field down. I ran into his mission last night. Killed one straggler b17 then was chewed up and spit out as parts by the main formation.

AvA (Axis Vs. Allies arena) is also working on having steady bomber streams provided by AI bombers.  :salute

:airplane: The Devil  Dogs, (Rooks), run bomber mission 7 days a week, usually starting around 6pm, EST, in the MLW arena. Don't let these guys feed you a line, there are plenty of bomber missions every night. We usually have anywhere from 21 to 36 bombers in each mission. We do fly some hvy fighter missions also, and every once in a while, a medium bomber, B-25, 26, JU-88 mish, but usually B-17's or B-24's.

999000.... if you see a set of buffs that look like an easy target... it may be 999000 leading you into a false sense of superiority.  :salute  :airplane:

if i get 1 kill on 999000 i call it a day and leave the rest of that formation alone.

on finding bombers i use to sit around 25k and target what ever side is pushing hard, usually between their highest airfield and the current fields being attacked. More likely to be rook or bish, not a lot of knight buffs. 110 was my favorite buff hunter.
