If you would consider moving to Canada, there are tons of companies looking for people in Fort McMurray in the oil sands. Most jobs are 6 days on 6 off, with 12 hour shifts, and about 1 hour travel from town, or 15 minutes if you live in the camps, which are pretty nice. Average starting take home is around 6$k clear per month, at least, with half your days off like I said.
If you would consider moving, and believe me, it's very cold up there, but it's not THAT bad, and the city is like any other really, I could email you some places to apply that'll have you working inside of a month, so long as you don't have major felonies on your record that would keep you from crossing the border.
They have a manpower shortage up there, as always, and you would likely make more than any other time in your life unless you were in the 6 figure range already.
Just something to think about if you get desperate I guess. A friend of mine is a manager/hiring officer with Canadian Dewatering. All new guys do there is sit in a warm/cool truck and once an hour get out to check some gauges on a water pump for the first couple of years. They take home 5$k a month easily, and have the easiest gig in the place.
