Me163 By strats regardless of forward or rear movement
« on: October 13, 2013, 11:52:54 AM »
My wish is to make available, a non capturable base near the front strat locations.  When the strats are forward, make available the Me163 so they can launch and attempt to defend the forward strats.

I mentioned this in two other threads.

I am making this a thread of its own here.

There is a debate over movement of strats, etc...

Often times, one side will not take a base as it would retreat the strats to the rear.  This makes it a problem for bombers wanting to make strat runs.  However, the strats become extremely difficult to defend due to long climb times, etc...

I think this way, the bombers still can hit the forward strats and the defenders can launch and get to alt. relatively quickly.

It gives opportunity to risk some fighter perks and defend in a short amount of time while giving the bombers the opportunity to bomb strats that are forward.

In addition, resupplying strats that take 120 points to bring back up at 4 points per person per drop tend to take you away from playing the game (fighting).  And that is fine.  I like the strat system as it is now.

I think that putting the Me163 into play to help defend strats brings another dimension to the game that we don't have now and could possibly level the playing field to the overall strategy in winning the map.

Just a thought!!!

Any thoughts or feedback for or against are welcome.

I personally hate when a 163 flys from the rear field going slow and rearming along the way and gets in the normal MA fur balls. I think this would just make that easier on all maps now.

I do however think that attacking high buffs with 163s is awesome fun.

Maybe make the forward spawned 163s more perks....like 85? What are they these days 60?

I am on board with higher Me163 perks.  The guys that know what they are doing with the 163 will take the time to slowly get to forward areas with it by rearming along the way and fight.

And they usually won't lose their perks doing it.  Always fun to hear people on vox getting excited when one appears somewhere where you least expect it.  I have lost quite a few fighter perks trying to learn how to do it online.  All in good fun...

I also enjoy fighting off Me163s when I go on a bombing run over HQ or strats.  I will fly to the rear strats just as I would fly to the forward strats so that aspect of the game doesn't bother me.

I won't defend the forward strats if it takes longer than 30 minutes to climb up to altitude but I will attempt to intercept bombers that are IB or egressing where able.

And I will attempt to resupply my strats, however, I'd prefer to be defending or attacking a field...

@ Lusche - Congrats on being the leader in the Me163.  I have to ask you, with all due respect, why not have a base available near the strats available with the Me163?  I just want to understand the thinking behind it.  Maybe something I haven't thought of.

Because it's utterly frustrating for the bomber pilots to have not a single map anymore where they can do regular strat bombing runs without running into 163's all the time. You invest 1-1.5 hours to get to alt and to make your way to the strats just to be shot down with little effort in 3 minutes. That's the main reason strat attacks happen much less on the smaller maps.

Unlike most small maps, you can usually see a strat raider coming for a long time on the large terrains. Enough time to get into a conventional fighter and to battle the bomber on somewhat equal terms.

Understood!  And I KNOW I have been knocked down out of the sky by you before.

So far, a -1 for giving the bombers a better chance...

Usually, when we are all on, my squad will come in B29s enforce for strats.  We love seeing defenders coming up to us.  The real trick is fighting our way home.  The Ta152s and Me163s are the only planes that make us cringe, and we lose some planes going home.  We even draw some planes all the way home and becomes a chess match on how to get landed while having 2 or 3 hunters in trail!  Always fun!!!

-1 for the reason stated by Lusche.

Further, I advocate raising its perk cost to 1000.

The 163's and time to target wouldn't matter as much if you lobbied for the target to take less to destroy. You might even get more bombers more often to shoot at. While more bomber pilots felt the risk was worth the outcome. Look at how strat resupply attracted an army of energizer bunnies until the reward for effort was reduced. I think many bomber pilots would like to see a better reward for their time, like an obvious impact to the country owned by their current target.

Making the strat easier to destroy would expose players more often to the downsides for their country visa waiting for the strat to rebuild, not responding to bombers and not resupplying. A resupply multiplier that worked sort of like ENY+Perk multiplier would help low numbers countries to build their strat back faster. Don't allow it to affect the bomber pilots perk outcome for their time and danger exposure.

In the face of an easier strategic target to destroy. It might be worth including FH, BH and GV hangers in the resupply rebuild ability accorded to things like radar and auto ack. Resupplying between fields seems to be within the scope of where players are willing to give up shooting at the bad guy time to help their future shooting at the bad guy abilities. Delayed gratification becomes palatable for the right price.

163s are meant for defending HQ not strats. It just happens that sometimes strats are near HQ so it works out that way.

... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB

:airplane: That is correct, other wise the l63's would move to bases nearer the strats when they located in forward area's. Their one purpose in this game is to protect HQ!
