Mission Posted
« on: October 20, 2013, 01:11:47 PM »
:airplane: Would it be too much trouble to have a small text message in upper right hand corner of monitor that a mission was posted, so that everyone in the arena would know with out having to keeping putting it in the text buffer which is supposed to be for chat?

Better idea. The system monitors the mission size, and when it gets above 10, it shows them on dot dar for everyone in the entire arena.

I think this would really help a certain group learn to accurately place ordnance, so they don't need 12 P-38's for a single field, or 13 sets of bombers for town (and I counted. No less than 13 sets of bombers came by overhead before town was white-flagged.
You started this thread and it was obviously about your want and desire in spite of your use of 'we' and Google.

:airplane: As you know, I post and run missions 7 days a week and I just hate to keep tieing up the text buffer with notices of a posted mission! But, I have to in order for other squads, which fly with us everyday, to let them know I have a mission posted! Seems like a waste of text buffer space, when 2 little words "mish posted" in upper right hand corner of monitor screen would let all in my country know when a mish was posted.

Could even have a small sound attached to it like the "check 6"  :devil

Still like this idea +1

:airplane: That might be the easiest way for AH to install some sort of notification of mission posted, but I would suggest restricting it to an announcement, say, every 90 seconds or 2 minutes. This "base under attack" thing which is now in use, serves no useful purpose that I can see. Maybe replace that with the mission posted notices!

if it makes a sound, every idiot in the arena will be posting fake missions just to hear the announcement.

I would not want such postings on my screen; it would annoy me to no end. I don't mind an announcement on Country channel now and then, but even that gets tiresome. If someone is interested in participating in missions, they can go check the clipboard for them.

:airplane: I was in this game about 6 weeks before I discovered pick up missions and it certainly made a difference to me about wanting to get into the "game" ASAP when I logged on my PC. A lot of new guys get discouraged by getting shot down all the time and quit, but those that discover missions can fly and learn as they go. I have had many, many people tell me they were about to quit the game when they discovered my posted missions, started joining the missions and wound up good paying customers of AH.

Set "(1- MaxNum) Mission Available" as a message on your screen to an off\on toggle in the clipboard pickup mission area. Have a second off\on toggle for the mission owner to have his mission or not, notified to the country in this manner. Then those who don't like seeing this won't mark the check box.

If the mission message is displayed with (1 - MaxNum). Then create a text command like (.tm Num) to return you the remaining time before mission launch. This assumes in the mission editor area to join a mission they are updated with (1 - MaxNum) and players remember their mission number.
