hopefully near future upgrade

Right now I'm running an xfx 6870 graphics card, 850w thermaltake PSU, i7-960 at factory clock and a gigabyte G1.Geurrilla mobo. Runs AH how i like it at a steady 58-60 FPS. not complaining about that. However, Once I get a little more free time I'll be back into BF, CoD and Skyrim. Had my setup for about a year, year and half, and it doesnt quite cut it for those games and my desired eye candy. I have not been keeping up to snuff with hardware due to work.... 70-80 hour weeks, plus my 48 jeep I'm restoring have me strained on time. In any event, I'm looking to upgrade in the near future hopefully. heres what I'm looking at, but wanted thoughts:

Even if my supply could handle it for power, itd be close. I have a SSD, a 1 TB drive and my CD/DVD optical drive.

The reason I'm looking at the hardware? Hoping to be starting paramedic school next year. thatll be two years of commuting twice a week an hour and a half one way, plus student loans. I'll be tight on cash. Looking to future proof for the next couple years as much as possible. I'm also hoping to figure out a way to make space for all three of my monitors in the near future..not sure how I'll run three monitors off one card, but if theres a way I'll cross the bridge when I get there. Tried it a couple ways with my current card and nothing about a year ago.

Thoughts?

good luck finding that mobo. evga is cutting way back on their mobo lineup and that one is out of stock, everywhere. you can still get the x79 ftw which is a choice board.

curious why you decided on a sandy bridge processor for $570 when you can get an ivy bridge that is faster oob for $330.

I'd be careful with this PSU unless you find some good test reports of these brand's PSU.

Also the 600W statement for the gfx card is way too high, standard GTX770 consume up to 200W and this slightly OC/ed card will be at ~220W. Manufacturer website claim 250W total power draw http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=04G-P4-3774-KR and the maximum it's permitted to draw is 150+75+75 from 8-pin/6-pin connector and from PCIe slot

Gyrene, When the sandy bridges launched I had my eye on the 3930, and if money permitted I would have bought it then. Didnt see the ivy bridge, skimmed right by it.

Denniss, I havent looked into it much, but ive seen just as many good reviews as bad, and a lot of times negatives post, positives dont. I would give it the benefit of thr doubt, but i can shop around a little. I have some time to play with, hopefully. As for the card, I thought the 600w statement seemed high, then again, as I said, i havent looked at hardware in a year and iddnt know how much things had changed regarding power draws, but I had never looked at the 700 series which didnt help much with the power draw uncertainty.

If you know the amount of PCIe power connectors of the card, the maximum power draw is easy to calculate. 150W from 8-pin connector, 6-pin and PCIe slot supply 75W each.
For PSU I'd stay with known good brands like Seasonic. Always read through tests as some series may have flaws like too noisy.

it has been posted way too many times.  having a ps bigger than what you need actually is bad for you.  you wont need 1200 and 850 is more like you need.

as for the cpu, I would also go with the ivy bridge, sandy bridge are on the way out now.  not due to them being bad, but if you look at the bios update for mob's they're all doing updates for ivy cpu's and forgetting sandy bridge now.

just one thing I didnt see any ram, so make sure the ram you have plays nice with the mobo you want.  some dont play so nice.

if it was me and just saying if it was me, I would cut back on the mobo, cpu and ps and use that money towards a monitor with a higher resolution than 1920x1080.  if you do it right, you would only need 1 or 200 bucks to get one and you will really enjoy that nice set up you can get.

also post your extra parts if you arent gonna need it on the classified sections, they would make somebody else a nice set up and save you some money too.

I have an nzt 750 ps and they're nice and highly rated.  never had a problem with it.  when I bought it they were one of the highest rated ps in the market.  but 1200 is way over kill.

clue me in Semp...where are you getting an ultra hd monitor for 100-200 bucks? 1080p is just getting to the point where $140 for a 24inch is cheap, 27inch is still going for $200+.

like I said on my original post which you misunderstood.  if it was me, I would save 500 bucks in the cpu/mobo/ps then use 1 or 200 bucks and get me a high res monitor, lots of monitors under 700 bucks while still having a very nice  system.   there's no creative accounting, you just misunderstood what i said.
