Anybody familiar with PagePlus?

I recently dropped my smartphone from my cell account reverting back to a dumb phone, cut my bill by 50%.
However, the hardware in the smartphone is so much better that I dislike dealing with the dumb phone for basic phone calls.
I've hacked my DINC and now have updated the OS, dumped the bloat and I am now ready to reactivate the DINC. Works better now than ever.
Just need a provider that will not rape me like Verizon.
Verizon, $35+/mth for 300 min. With Data, bill was +$80/mth
Page Plus, $12/mth for 200 min + 10mb data.
Sounds to good to be true so I ask.......................... ..
I never used more than 100 min/mth, do not download music, movies or any social networking. Just want to google when desired, wifi handles that.
Also, anyone familiar with Google Voice?

I would recommend Ting - I know a few family members use it and they love it.  My phone is paid for otherwise I might try it.  They use the spring network (I think it's Sprint) so you get a major carrier.


Google voice - I use it as a lan line for my office.  Works great and it has call forwarding to and from my cell phone.

i just switched from att to net10 wireless...got a dumb smart phone for it. uses the sprint network (not always a good thing). coverage is decent, at least wherever sprint has coverage, so do you. for 2 phones i pay $98/month. i may end up switching to a different service next year if i can find a decent one that has quad band gsm coverage instead of cdma.

Take a look at Straight Talk.  50 a month for talk txt and internet.  I use a couple thousand  min a month 300-500 txt and about 1gb of network and it works.  I use ATT network for it but i think they offer Verizon and t mobile options as well.

I have heard that they will drop you if you use to much internet but so far i have been good .

I really would like feedback on PagePlus tho. PagePlus piggy backs Verizons network. I do not want to pay for a new phone, my Verizon DINC can be set up for PagePlus's network. Hence why question about PagePlus's service quality or not.

Also, I am not paying $50+ /mth just so I can have 3G service. WiFi is all I need. I paid for full price services for 2 years, never once downloaded music or movies. Just want to be able to Google when in the studios or theatres. All of which provide wifi.

I was wondering how Google Voice is. I want to know if I can call any cell number, of any provider with Google Voice, or am I limited to only peeps in the Google Voice network.
How reliable is the call forwarding, cell forwarding option? ie: is it timely

My work comes over phone lines so I need it to be timely, so I can answer, return call, quick enough to take the job offered.

You can call any number (not just those on google).  It just uses an adapter that plugs into your router and it's only a small upfront purchase fee ~$30 for the adapter, so its a very small upfront investment to see if it works for you.  We don't pay for the service (free) and the forwarding is instant.  As soon as you don't pick up it shoots it to your cell phone or vice versa depending on your settings.

I am currently using the DINC as a tablet. Why buy yet another product, why do you think all the cell providers require specific devices for their services. So you move phones off the shelf. This is a no go. I'm not buying another smart device. I want 1 device to handle my business, a device I already own. I think you are missing the point here. I want a phone handset that has wifi capabilities and radio only. Even if I was a millionaire, I would balk at the raping.

I personally find it ridiculous that I have to pay for the internet twice, once for home service, once for cell service, since both are with the same provider, Verizon. Capitalism gone to far. The world beginning to turn into the dark ages again, no middleclass just the born too its and their serfs.
And yes I understand, they can do it. I just question the greed of it all.

just confused where I live smart phones require a data plan. and since you don't want to pay for data that's why I suggested a tablet with WiFi only.

Not really, I deactivated the smartphone, however, the hardware in the DINC is way better than my dumb phones. The radio works better, the mic, the speaker, all make for better, basic cell phone performance. This is the real reason I want to re-activate the DINC, better call reception. The wifi is just an added bonus when I want to google up something. I blocked texting years ago. Do not want 3G/4G. In 14 years of cell service, I have never used my paid contract allotments. I bet if I was allowed roll over minutes, I'd have 10 years of minutes backed up.

When I first purchased the DINC, my intent was to drop the data package after the 2 year contract obligation was met. But Verizon instituted their forced data plans 1 year into the plan. Screwed me good, if I had known then what the future held. Now I know how much better the hardware, in the DINC is, thru usage comparison.

The DINC is no longer sold, its out of date. I hacked it, replaced the OS, dropped all the bloatware. Now the DINC performs well and I miss the clarity of its phone. You know I do not mind peeps, corps making a profit on their wares and services. That's how it works, but I hate abject greed.

No, you are not the only one..
I use a Faraday cage as well.. So my phone is only visible to the system, when I choose..

I use AT&T. It is about the best if not the best around the Houston area. TiMobile ok, Vorizon... terrible.

Lots of little companies around that piggy back on the large systems.
