More immersion - Ambient sounds, low level thermals
« on: October 23, 2013, 03:38:45 AM »
As it is now, Aces high world is a pretty dead place (apart from ch200). No ambiance, no atmosphere, feels so unnatural.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SPQEj8BELk

Simple solution to that would be simple ambient sounds, as in the following video. A simple .mp3 would make a huge difference. I'm not saying make it a zoo out there, but hearing something in the background would make the game so much more immersive.
This solution is so simple, seems like 5 minute job for HTC.

Possible problem might be how to implement it only when you are in a gv or parked on the ground/in tower (but I'm sure it would be an easy fix too).

Please, HTC, reply, as I really consider this an easy solution and a massive improvement in general game atmosphere.

Also, second wish, but probably un-doable one, or there is already a good reason it's not in the game, would be to add low level thermal turbulence...

:airplane: Your idea certainly has some attractiveness to it, but, watching a lot of these guys land in here with no wind, I would venture a guess that with the pilot having to make constant small corrections for wing "dip" from heat thermals, the aircraft "arrivals" would be worth watching!
Blue Skies and wind at my back and wish that for all!!!

I'm not saying we get 30 knots gusts over the runway, but a small turbulence would make a big difference (in my opinion).
As it is in AH currently it feels like flying through a perfect fluid.

Besides, most of players can't land a plane without crashing into the ground anyway :P

I'd like to see some AI trucks and personnel moving around the base to give bases a more lively feel. Just take the coding for our truck convoy's and give them a path to follow on the bases. Take the coding for troops and do the same. Have trucks driving along the paths from the ordnance bunkers to the indestructible hangar. Ground personnel walking from the radar tower and barracks the tower. Little things like this and ambient noises would make the game feel just a bit more lively.

Maybe put some dancing troops in the O'Club!  :D

Actually Earl, I think you're being a little rough on the rotorheads. I'll willing to bet helicopters will be great aircraft if they ever finish inventing them.
