Final Scores The Green Desert
« on: October 26, 2013, 12:39:56 PM »
Frame-1

Allies: 885
Axis: 1185

Frame-2

Allies:  645
Axis:  1375

Frame-3

Allies: 1070
Axis:  1185

Decisive Axis Victory.

To the players, the lopsided score reflects the setup more than the flying abilities of either side. Many midwar PTO setups have a way of being heavily biased towards the Allied side. The fragile nature of Japanese bombers in the early midwar planeset makes them not much more than targets. Hence my decision to pattern the setup as an Allied Offensive Campaign rather than the usual two sides striking at each other setup. The B-25C doesn't fare much better than the G4M with its lack of a tail gun and being forced into the low altitude bombing role. Looking back the setup would have been more balanced with a 60-40 split given to the Allies a lesser number of B-24s with formations allowed and with the A-20G or B-26 in place of the B-25C. Plus the scoring system I used placed too much importance on downed bombers and not enough of destroyed ground targets.

It is always my intent to produce a setup that gives the FSO community the flavor of the era and theater it represents as well as balancing it as much as possible to be enjoyable for both sides.
I missed the mark on balance by a large margin this month and will take it into account for future setups. There were a lot of well fought white knuckle fights and quality flying by both sides that the score fails to recognize. I apologize for that. A big thanks to all of you that flew The Green Desert.  :salute

I knew frame 3 was going to be close. Thanks for the Allied squad leaders for executing the orders very well. Very close scores in Frame 3. Four B-24s... very close.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

A big salute and thank you from the LCA Shifty-san. We had a great time this month.

The score only tells part of the story IMO, and I thought the setup felt closer than the score reflects.

Loved the set up.

Till next time  :salute

Indeed, I never felt the least bit in control once the bullets started flying.

No need for apologies, can't expect every FSO to be perfect. FSO is a night to fly with my squaddies in a typical historic organized event, trying to obtain a goal by working together. To be honest I never care about the score. In my opinion you guys probably use the score more as a measure to make sure that both sides are as equal as possible. You guys do a great job so no worries.

Big Salute to those Allied pilots, they flew very smart against the better turning Jap plane set. Had to chase a lot of them to no avail. Not saying they were running, but playing it smart and using tactics. Lot of team work and maintaining "E" to get away if the fight turned sour for them. That was very realistic and the way to fight the Japanese <S>.

I have flown a little over twenty nights with my squad due to serious health problems. I cannot sit too long to fly and I have to be on meds most of days, But , I have not had a single kill yet in FSO !! Not a one . (not even an assist!) .. I still have had the most fun !! FSO is my medication! You talk about sides not being even or problems with maps and I still have a great time .. I salute all who have made the Friday missions just to be able to enjoy a game like this .. For all the trouble and hard work you all do , I and my squad the 353rd Salute you ! This last one was a great time and the next one sounds like it will be even more fun. The insertion of a resupply and troop drop , sounds to be a interesting one ! Our scores weren't the best but we keep playing .. After all , thi sis one of the best games I have ever been playing !! Sorry for the rambling !
:salute :salute to all the guys that make this possible !!
