eCigs/Vaporizers
« on: October 28, 2013, 03:47:55 PM »
Any using eCigs or a vaporizer? In my latest attempt to quit smoking I've decided to try one before I fry my lungs any worse than they are. I bought the "spinner" type battery with adjustable voltage and a refillable chamber from AltSmoke after some recommendations on another board. I've used the single eCigs before like Blu and nJoy. Both of those ran out too quick and were expensive as heck. With this rechargeable one I can buy refill juice (available in a variety of flavors) for less than $10 and it's a lot cheaper. The one I'm trying right now is called Midnight Express and has a caramel/cognac taste. It's also tons cheaper and healthier than smoking.

i just buy the disposables. last about as long as a pack and a half of real smokes. for $7/ea that's still cheaper than a pack of premium cigs at $7.50/pk.

This isn't what you want to hear, but just quit cold turkey. After three or four weeks you'll wonder what all the trouble was about

The batt and assorted parts cost me about $40. The juice is about $8 for a 10ml bottle and that will do about 3 refills. So once you get the initial cost out of the way it's about 1/3 the cost of the singles. But it doesn't resemble a cig like they do.

I've quit for years at a time, but always wind up smoking again. Usually from being in a crowd of smokers at work or a party. This way I can have the best of all worlds. Still get my nic fix, no annoying smoke, my lungs will be happier and I'm not tempted to rip anybody's head off.

`Stands up`... er... hi....my name is Jimmy and I have not smoked for 4 months...
I vapped to quit...
but just for a few days..then went cold turkey.
I found the best way to quit was to go on a full on weekend of debauchery with massive over smoking...
Monday morning/tuesday(depending on how debauched) the last thing you want is a smoke..
BOOM
Quit... when the beast is crawling through your mind hit the vap...
be strong... when the beast is doing your nut in...vap...
Be strong ..
KNOW YOU WANT TO QUIT..its your choice, so do it..
be strong..
I still get the urge to smoke and its months since I quit..
I like beating it though, its my choice not to smoke..
I feel much better from quitting and cant stand the smell of a smoker...urgggh

Good luck

Doesn't work for some people, really.

My Grandfather quit cold turkey (stubborn guy) and 20 years later he said he still wanted a smoke as bad as the day he quit.  He never smoked again (he was REALLY stubborn) but I think the day he died he had nicotine cravings.

Some people get REALLY addicted.  My Mom is the same way, one puff and hooked for life.  I tried a smoke and it did nothing for me.  Then again, narcotic pain meds also don't do much for me either.  There's a genetic factor and those who don't know what its like to be truly addicted are always saying crap about how its easy and just takes a little willpower.  Nonsense.  For some people, yea its that easy.  For lots others though, its a lifetime addiction after as little as one puff whether they quit or not.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

I have the Blu eCig but rarely use it because it just doesn't get the job done. A big waste of money as far as I'm concerned. I told myself this past saturday I was going to quit after 35 years. I've smoked 3 packs since then.  :(

i've never tried the blu brand, too expensive. there are other quality ecigs out there for less money.

Well, I gave up for 3 years without a smoke and am currently back on 10-15 a day for the last two months, so I do know where you're coming from. I never said it was easy, please don't think I was suggesting that. One of the hardest things I ever did and eventually I failed due to wanting to smoke, not addiction. Although addiction sets in very quickly again.

I just firmly believe that to beat the addiction, permanently or temporarily, the only way is to remove the nicotine from your system. Yes, you always will want a smoke, because you enjoy smoking. But the cravings will be so hugely reduced after a month that anyone will notice a difference from a time when they could not go more than a few hours without smoking.

Why keep paying hard earned money to a different set of drug dealers who are profiting from your addiction if you want to quit?

This pic pretty much resembles the one I bought. It is kinda big. Closer to medium sized cigar. But compared to the Blu and nJoy, it blows them away. Variable voltage so you can increase/decrease the vapor and a clear tank so you can see if the juice is running low. I bought the extra capacity battery so I wouldn't be stranded, which has happened to me with the both nJoy and Blu.

I sell and use the vapers and juice.... As RPM  says, the vape difference is very noticeable. As you will be aware RPM care needs to be taken as due to the battery lasting way longer than an analogue people forget to stop hahaha..... mind you...at least you are not taking in those nasty carcinogens now.....I used to be every 1/2 hour without fail have a smoke...now I can go hours without even thinking about having a puff...but on the other side, i have and do puff for long periods at times too.....just a puff here and there but the thing is close to or in my mouth the whole time....till i realise and put it down/in my pocket......still...i am much better off financially and healthwise...sure i should quit it totally....but this is also my advertising.
from this point (nico vaping) you can choose to cut down nico percentage till you no longer use nico then oneday you just forget about it totally....these are not only for nico intake either....you can get a range of vitamins ... there's even a get hard stay hard juice....not sure if or how it works ..but it is there to try

Every day I get emails stating how people have tried everything and this worked for them....

I currently use the disposable blu's.  I will say this, it sucks.  It does NOT feel like I'm smoking is what I mean.  But I know it works with the nic because I'm not trying to smoke my bus steering wheel or eat people.  At first I would use one up, at the LONGEST, in 2 days.  At 11 a pop, that wasn't fun.  But I'm to the point where I can get a minimum of 5 days out of one.  Coming from half-3/4th's a pack a day to that, I'm not complaining.  Cheaper when I did the math to boot.

The thing is, I have no intents of fully quitting.  I am currently wondering what is best out there.  I'm looking for something that is easy to clean, very durable (I used to drop my lighter, smoke and pack every so foten.  Hell, I've dropped this blu twice.), easy to get fixed and easy to obtain the nic.  Adjustable nic level would be nice as well but not requirement.  But I'm at a loss at the moment.  Hoping one of ya can point me in good direction.  Money not a real issue, though I am NOT getting a one made of diamond. :lol

rpm has one of those fancy tank jobs, i've never tried one. looks pretty cool but if the size is near that of a cigar, that would put me off. the tank models do look promising though.

all of the basic retail ecigs recommend the battery be replaced every 6 months or so (depending on use), i've gotten 8 months out of an efox before it quit holding a charge. generally speaking cartomizers (atomizer attached to the cartridge) are more expensive than standard cartridges (atomizer attaches to the battery). with the cartridge models, the cartridge can be refilled fairly easily and there are a lot of videos on how to do it. if you're going to refill rather than buy pre-filled, out of all the smoke juices out there, the johnson creek smoke juice is the best, u.s. made, not made in some southeast asian garage. there are a few other smoke juice companies that sell u.s. made stuff but i've never tried them and i don't know anyone who has.

i've tried 3 retail brands with either cartomizer or basic cartridge, efoxecig, blu, and square 82...of the three, the square will hit your throat like taking too big of a drag off a filterless cigarette. i have a coworker that is using the njoy and he loves it.

I liked the nJoy, they just ran out too fast. I gotta say I'm really impressed with this one and it's by far the best tasting one I've ever tried. I had to dial it back because it was giving too strong of a hit. That's never been a problem with the small ones. I've got the batt set at 3.8v(50%) now and it's just about right. I've only smoked 1 cigarette since I started. I'd have gone thru close to a pack by now.

Yeah I have the high nicotine cartridges. The lady at the tobacco store where I buy my smokes told me there is another brand that her brother n law started using that seems to be working well for him, where as Blu eCigs were not. I can't remember what brand that is at the moment, but I really need to find out. She said that brand had over 20mg of nicotine IIRC.
