Different CV's and Large and Medium Ports
« on: October 29, 2013, 05:59:44 AM »
I think it would be cool to include different class CV's, one bigger, coming from the large port, possibly being able to launch the B-25 off of it? I'm not sure what class the AH CV is based off, but it would be cool to see a new CV that introduces some buffs.

B-25's off of CV's isn't going to happen.

It was a one off attack with seriously modified bombers. I believe they stripped all of the guns and armour out to make her light enough to take off from the deck.

Saying that, I would quite like to see some different carriers. Maybe, as you mention have a large or small CV, the smaller ones being equivalent to the Escort Carriers in the Battle of the Atlantic. Have only Hurri's, A6M's, F4F's and Seafires available (Maybe leave off the last one if it will upset balance) but as a trade off, make it much quicker and more maneuverable.

This wil mean you have a choice between slow and good choice, or fast and limited choice. Escort carriers would primarily be used as base defence, if you see a base trying to be sneaked on the coast, send as ECV down to help the defence.

Just an idea.

+1 for different CV's
-1 for B-25's off of CV's

They removed the ineffective remote-controlled bottom gun and the Norden bombsight, the rest of the airplane was stock off the assembly line...well, except for those broom sticks they stuck in the tail to look like guns and the 5 gallon cans of gas they loaded the morning of the mission.

I'd love to see:

Allied

I think these three classes would be the ones you DEFINITELY want to have for the Allies for events.

Yorktown-class
Illustrious-class
Casablanca-class (seriously, there were FIFTY of these things, most-produced aircraft carrier in history)

The Casablanca-class escort carrier could also be useful to make a separate "invasion fleet" task group for the mains, allowing removal of LVTs from the fleet carriers.

Lesser priority, but would also be nice.

Independence-class

Japan

The main problem with Japanese carriers is that they didn't really fall into classes the way American and British vessels did, and had a LOT of one-off designs That said, you can probably do pretty well for events with:

Shokaku
Hiryu
Kaga
Ryujo

A nice touch I'd love to see for events purposes, would be the ability to replace the Rook/Knight/Bishop decal on the flight deck with a hull number. So you could spawn a Yorktown with the hull number 6 for Enterprise.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

The CV we have now is based on the Essex class. Only a few CV's larger. You have to go to the Washington naval treaty conversions. The Lexington/Saratoga, the Kaga and Akagi. The Shinano was bigger but was not a true CV.

D'oh, how could I forget to add ''Saratoga'' to the list of CV classes to add.

Add two to four BBs:

Iowa

and Yamato

.... and then maybe

King George V

and

Bismark.

Adding Battlewagons to the fleet would enable over the horizon sea battles with a/c spotting for the big guns... Also enable landing craft to the large fleets :salute

:airplane: +100 on this, would add a whole new dimension to the game and probabley add some new customers who don't care anything about flying, but are ship "nuts", just like we are about aircraft!
Blue Skies and wind at my back and wish that for all!!!

While we are at it, how about the USS Atlantic antiaircraft crusier Cl-51 She had sixteen 5 inch guns plus other smaller AA guns.
