Great idea !  :aok

Even if Jg52 is playing Bishs this tour, we'll be more that glad to be there and participate,
for the intercepting of your mighty B17s...

As others have said, be happy with 20 bomber pilots with escorts.  Even 10 bomber pilots flying well together is formidable.  If you let the opposing side have notice you will be greeted by swarms of 262s.

I used to put those missions up once in awhile. It takes alot of promotion, some art work helps, and alot of heads up on here and in game.  Invite all countries to take part, there are all types of pilots on each side. Some would like to be in the bomb group, others like escort, others intercept. Accept leaders for each role, plan a target, declare it prior to launch day and give folks time to put together an attack/defense role for their sides. Alot of communication, and some fair play goes along way when effort is put forth.

Now if only we could get that blasted 12hr limit thing dropped down quite a bit, more folks would probably be willing to switch sides to join whatever role they wish to be in.

Those operations are called "MoM" usually led by the LCA's 96Delta. I once did an "MoM" but it was with nothing but Japanese aircraft.

 :salute

It was fun to fly on the other side of those, too, intercepting a big BUFF stream with lots of escorts.

Shameless plug:  They were kind of like a Special Event, y'know, like an FSO or a Scenario!   :aok

They don't even need to be announced on 200 when they stage.  Two sectors or more of darbar tells the tale.  I want to say when a large bomber raid is detected early the raid fizzles.  Not always though.

I recollect a year or whenever ago there was a HUGE B29 raid that I think the Rooks staged.  We Bishops saw it, but it was on that big map with all the CV's.  By the time the raid was halfway to our Strats, those Superfortresses already had their skirts up and running at 350 ias at 30K.  Their leader, whom I have forgetten, did an excellent job of planning.  We Bish assaulted them furiously and in force.  But <S> Rooks.  They won the day.

The whole thing was exhilarating: lots of chatter, lots of R x T =D calculating going on country channel given the B29's had gotten to alt and speed many sectors prior to their target.  Was hoot even if our Strats were demolished.

Smart planning really aid success and fun in these ventures.

Was thinking about setting up a custom arena to commemorate the bombing of the Bremen oil factories, or the air raids of Bremen. If it does happen it will be this upcoming Saturday at 9:00 P.M. eastern time. B-17's, 190's, and 109's are the primary aircraft, I hope I can get some people in. Go for strats.

:huh  A month!?  When did the side limit go up that high? :O  Ballz to it then.  Definitely not worth the trouble. :bhead  Unless my side happens to be launching/intercepting, I'll stick to scenario/fso. :aok

the raid is planned for the end of this month.  so if you can't make I it to either side, you got nobody else but yourself to blame.
