here is a way to look at it-

It happens to all three sides.  I seriously doubt it is an exploitable 'bug" since no one really knows if their dar bar or dot is or is not hidden.  I for one would not ever count on it.

So... we can either take it with a grain of salt and "keep calm and carry on", or bang our heads up against the wall and scream for a fix.  FWIW, I've not ever noticed a horde going unnoticed.  It seems to be a single plane.

I say to move on to a more serious "bug" and let HTC focus their time and efforts on other more pressing items.  My 2 cents.

I find it to be a very serious bug. And it's not just limted to single planes. I had enemy missions pop up which clearly had NOT been noe raids. And I too had the same experience that a field had almost no red darbar until I moved to that field's tower and found enemy cons stacked up at all altitudes with the darbar jumping to full sector.

And it's the inconsistency in particular which makes it very annoying

It's definitely something I think considers HTC's attention.  One of my favorite things to do is climb-out in P-47 and go AFK to get a beer, check on supper, kiss the wife, etc...  Now imagine if the DAR bar doesn't reflect the enemy that just found my P-47?

One other consideration, are we sure that the other side(s) don't have us on DAR BAR when we can't see them on our DAR BAR?  Of course not, no guarantee as of yet.

Still not sure if its just something they are trying out. If its a bug its a serious one. I track incoming strat raiders almost from they time they up. If I cant see their dar until they hit a radar circle its going to be very difficult to get a prop fighter up to 32k for the intercept.

The I consistent part is what bugs me. It seems to have no pattern to it and is random from player to player.

and that same inconsistency is what makes it acceptable to me.  All three sides experience it.  There is no pattern.  There is no way to exploit it.  No way to "game the game" as so many players do for rank, score, "name in lights", or other such rubbish.  Chalk it up to the "fog of war" and move on.

what does fog of war do? it randomizes the darbar info given on enemy activity in that it often does not give all info on enemy activity especially in low activity areas to allow the element of surprise. inside radar rings dots and darbar will always show up. outside it is deliberately hit or miss.

why would they do this to us? oh the humanity!?!?

consider if you will there is another ww2 air combat sim that when played on the most realistic settings has no radar, no darbars and no icons. your only option is to look around for the enemy out the window.

I don't want to fly into enemy radar and let them know where I am. i don't like surprises. I'd rather fly around for an hour than risk losing a fight from a disadvantage.

I think you're wrong and that instead of an intended "fog of war" it's most likely a bug that should be fixed.  If not then why are there even arena dar settings and why was it explained in the original AH documentation?

I dueled Junky in the MA a few weeks ago.  We were communicating flying out and I couldn't see his darbar for several minutes but IIRC he said he could see mine.

A couple of days ago I see a base flashing and no dar. I figure NOE. I go there and the radar appears but then disappears. Definitely NOE so I think. Then the Radar appears again and the con is right off my nose. I look down nothing, I look and I look. Where's that con. Well finally I look up and it's over 30k.

Twice now our squad members have seen different red-darbars in the same sector.  The squad members that were closer to the red horde saw a higher red-darbar than members a good distance away from the red horde but still in the same sector.

You need to turn that function off. I hunt large red darbars and that's hard to do when they don't show up on the map. I don't always have an hour to fly around the map looking for targets.

I've not ever had an issue with "finding fights".  Maybe it is because I'm not of the "feed me" crowd, I'm not sure.  I don't expect to be spoon fed.

With that said, I don't think a set of bombers has ever had a free ride from beginning to end for the strats, HQ, etc, at above NOE settings.  Again, it is random and those planes NOT making the dar bar are unaware they are doing it.  No way to exploit it. Plus, out of 100 solo flights just how often does a plane not make a dar bar signature?  Same goes for a horde, just how often?

some players see the darbar updates before others. In events every squaddie tells what he sees as we want the latest info possible.
