We don't know. This irregulary appearing bug as been reported repeatedly over time. Unfortunately it's not visible on film and very difficult to capture on screenshots

It's not irregular, on this current map its very consistant. So much so that I thought it was a update and a new way of doing the dar bar system. I can't see a dar bar at all from the sector I'm in or neighboring sectors yet as soon as I get within dot range (I can see the dot) the dar bar for the contact will show up. Works with multiple contacts that way as well. I have noticed that Its not just my ac but any friendly gets within dot range of the enemy ac a dar bar will then appear but not until then.
Example I encountered b17s en route to our strats close to their own bases (only 10k) got shot down by the guys excellent gunnery. PMed him to say wow good shot and did you take any damage type thing. He invites me to try again. I accept but cant see where he is on a dar bar. He gives me alt and coordinate updates of his position. He gave me updates across two sectors, no dar bar until I got within dot range of him. He was at 23k when I intercepted him and got my sorry butt shot down again  BTW   Ickis great bomber gunnery

Very inconsistent. A month or so ago, I ran into a sector that had zero dar bar. About ten seconds after I crossed the grid line, I ran into a pack of 5 or so enemy aircraft above 10k.

A couple weeks ago, I was headed towards a sector with no dar bar on my screen but a teammate was telling me he had a dar bar in the same sector. Now, we could've been looking at two different sectors but I think that's doubtful given the situation at the time.

Checking in. I have been having the same issue.  No red darbar, get within icon range, and pow, red darbar and 3 cons at 18K. 

It adds to the fun, but it's hard to find a fight sometimes.

Ditto.  I kept thinking strats were taken out...but that was not the case.  Seen it multiple times.

I've noticed this as well.  Nothing on bardar at all then suddenly an enemy con or sometimes several.  When I see the con and check the dar again it is showing.  Is there a delay?

There is a delay, as darbar does only update every few seconds, but...

A delay wouldn't cause a con to fly several sectors with any darbar at all. I have seen friendly bombers ib enemy strats without darbar to me, and when asked they gave their alt as >20k.
A delay should also not enable a prop fighter to reach 25k and get into icon range before causing any darbar.

I've had this happen on occasion. A couple times Ive been in the middle of a sector and been jumped while looking at the map that had no darbar in my sector to see if there were any darbars

Yesterday HiVolt and I were flying toward a sector that a friendly gv reported had an LA at over 3k above him. We had no dar bar on the con until he broke a dar ring on a friendly base.

I've flown into an empty sector, according to darbar, and got icons on a fighter and 3 bombers at 12k(agl). As soon as I spotted them I checked the map and the dar bar had popped.

This is happening frequently.

Happens a lot. I have had several cases of where friendlies are screaming for help across the map "Base X is getting over run" and when you look, you see very little to no red dar. Once I get into the tower of the base is when it updates to the more accurate reading

Still don't know if its something new Hiteck is trying out or if it's a bug. If its a bug maybe it should be mentioned in the bug forum.
