Winds Aloft
« on: November 17, 2013, 04:48:47 AM »
:airplane: I wish AH would include on the in game E6B, include either from or to when stating the wind direction. As it stands now, with the wind changing direction so quickly at high altitude, I think it would be useful to know if the wind is blowing from a direction or to a direction. I have always knew that when a controller or weather people made a statement or I read a weather report, if it reported winds, 270 @ 15, gusts to 20, I knew the wind was from the West, blowing to the East! I was in a mission last night to high altitude and there was some discussion about this, because the wind was "weather vane" us in the same direction as the wind was stated, if one is to assume that AH is using the same definition of wind direction as the FAA and weather reports.
The aircraft should be "weather vane" into the wind, not turning with the wind. Should would make it a lot easier to compute a drift angle, so as to make a constant track over the terrain.
Blue Skies and wind at my back and wish that for all!!!

I'd settle with a much cleaner wind legend.  I can barely make out the mess that we have now, and there are only two options, on or off.

Right click clip board, turn wind display on. Top right corner of your map displays wind direction/speed and alt's of all wind layers.

If you find the map legend hard to read you can look at the wind settings in Arena Settings.

Instead of arrows (all originating in the same spot) and speeds as we have now, which can be hard to read due to many different levels/directions/speeds, can we have a text display similar to the damage data? Something like:

Winds:
  0k-8k calm
  8k-18k W-E 10
  18k+ SW-NE 25
My Current Rig:
GigaByte GA-X99-UD4 Mobo w/ 16Gb RAM
Intel i7 5820k, Win7 64-bit
NVidia GTX 970 4Gb ACX 2.0
Track IR, CH Fighterstick, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Pedals

It may be a little hard to read when I am in a hurry, but I have found it helpful.
