did i not in my post indicate that i have a nu PS?

could it be the drivers?

ea time i attempt to install the nu card i of corse delete the old drivers and the screen changes
to the lower screen res. when the install fails i install the old card, but when i boot up,
the screen is suddenly back to the resolution it was before i deleted (or thot i deleted) the old drivers.

would the presense of the old drivers keep the computor from booting?

should i delete EVERYTHING nvidia from the drivers list?

Get driver sweeper and do a total sweep of everything you had.

That should clear it up.

Could it be possible that your computer does a System Restore in the background while you install the new card? I've seen that happen, even without any hardware changes... Another thing to try after running driver sweeper could be removing non-existent devices in the Device Manager. Here's (again) how:
Copy the following lines to a Notepad file, rename it to "yourchoice.bat" (without quotes), right click and run as an administrator. When the Device Manager opens, choose Show/Show hidden devices. Every device that is not connected will show grey and you should be quite safe to remove them.

@echo off
devmgr_show_nonpresent_device s=1
start devmgmt.msc

I couldn't understand what a 'nu PS' could be. Anyway, the odds are in favor of your first nor the second card being defect at all and something else is the problem in your system.

Are you able to run the system with a different card at all?

Sounds to me like you might have hit the MB with static when you first took the old one out, in which case your MB is a goner.

The odds of two new cards being bad are close to 0.

well it all just came crashing down..the computor booted up this morning and went well for getting my first email....went to breakfast...came back and the screen was black and didnt respond to mouse or keyboard inputs.  HD didnt even spin up and no change when rebooting, not even the single 'beep' i always get :(

funny thing is that i bought an extra GTX760 from best buy to test with, so now i have two GTX 760s. one is a 'Super Clock' (2765KR)for 259$ from egghead, and the other is a non Super Clock (3769KB) for 299$ from best buy. (which one should i keep?)

so now im throwing in the towel and gonna buy a new mobo combo with CPU and 8g of mem.

so back to the threads to see which combo yall like so much.

Simple, If its the memory test the computer with each stick, if it doesnt boot or gives errors on one or more sticks they are bad. Did you use an Anti-Static protection while installing the new PSU and video card? If not there could be a problem there. Also did you connect the power cable for the video card? Also the new PSU that you bought would need a minimum of 30 amps on the +12 volt rail for this card to function.

well i reinstalled the old card just to get the sys to boot.
i swapped to the ole PS to see if i toasted the MB.
now im wondering if my problems might be a conflict between the old mem and the nu VC!

NEW videocard, not NU. PSU not PS.

If your motherboard doesn't boot with the new videocard then you need a new motherboard. That AMD board is outdated anyway by now.

You have to be very careful when inside that box and you have to be grounded for static. You can damage a MB and it still might occasionally boot but will end up crashing on you. I fried a MB on a video editing system and had the exact same symptoms.

If your lucky you just didnt seat one of the memory sticks right but it sounds to me like your MB is fried.
