This is what I was thinking of too.

Yeah I dont care about shooting in Commander mode. I just want to be able to hit my hat switch and look left, right, back & up

You could always make a deal with him.

Accept the real telescope sight reticule for the QF 17-Pdr if he unlocks the views. Otherwise Hitech has been very kind to us with the current reticle.

QF 17-Pdr Telescope Sight N0.41 Reticle.

Perhaps but the Gunner does not have his face attached to the sight, he could look around, our gunner cant. In game it is very difficult to be spatially aware if you cant adjust your views. Especially when it comes to hearing where the enemy is with stereo speakers. At least for me.  The gun traverses so slowly I hardly see how giving views to it is too advantages to the gunner, it would mostly serve to remove alot of frustrations.

I agree, the gun traverse is slow already, but being able to look around while you move the gun just makes sense. Like MK-84, trying to determine where the nme is based on the sound is extremely frustrating. :bhead

A non-shooting crew commander mode with zoom would be realistic. Putting in a slave toggle so that the gun doesn't traverse until the commander identifies a target would be realistic also. Then the gun can only be fired from gunsight mode.

The heart of this is many really want the 17pndr and 88 to travers like the 37mm does and speed with the same freedom of view.

Nope.  Everything you listed would be just fine.  I just want to be able to look around and be able to see the arena map so I have some clue what's going on in the game.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

I really do not think it is.  I think the majority of us would like to be able to look around like we can with everything else in the game.

,

i don't think so. just want to be able to look around, the traverse shouldn't be affected.

i really don't see the difference between the 17lb field gun and the 17lb gun in the firefly.

one is fixed to the gunsight, and one has a commander view where hat views work.

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. Having the gunners face welded to the sight is beyond idiotic. There is not a single other gun, vehicle, or plane in the game that suffers this absurd limitation.

There is another thing I'd like to piggy back on to this wish:

I'd like to see ALL of the manned guns face outwards of the field instead of all pointing in one direction, which seems to be north in most cases. I'm not understanding how or why a 17 Pdr would be looking across the field to the north when it is situated on the south side of the base. Ditto for the AA guns, too.

Being able to look around is cool but should be without the zoom you get while in the sight.

I reckon they are simulating Binoculars.

I figure it would get the same level of zoom that tanks get from commander view..

OP: You weren't the 1st with this wish, nor will you be the last.  Hopefully you are, but I won't hold my breath. :lol  Definitely get a +1 from me. :aok
