It might be cheaper to fix the current problem instead of trying to upgrade to a new unit, you will need a minimum of around $800 for new build.

What exactly happened to old pc?

Aces can be run at decent frames for around 500-600 at the cheapest I'd imagine.

In the US pretty much so. I recommend looking for information on this forum (Hardware and Software) from the last half a year. There's even a new thread about the subject going on, but lots of good information has been given in the previous ones.

Outbreak has a point too in Frankensteining your old rig. If it was built for gaming, the case at least should work, as well as the optical drive. They aren't worth much, but a saved $70 is money after all. Some other components could be usable, too. Send specs, we'll tell.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

What about this? (as a build from used parts)
500W good PSU
first generation quad core i5 or a phenomIIx4, suitable mobo
HD5850/5870/GTX460 1GB
8 gigs of ram
hdd
case

And a fine puter for like 300-350. Not sure about the actual prices in the states, but this setup surely could run AH well today.

anyone running this game with a I3?
I was starting to have problems running this game with a Phenom x4 before I built a new PC last year.  I had put a new video card in though. I was bottlenecking at the CPU I figure.

The ivy bridge i3s are just as fast as the late quad core phenomIIs. I have a 7770/650ti level video card with a phenom, but its definiately GPU-limited with the best-looking settings i can reach 50-60 fps with. A new i3 is a good CPU for a 7850/gtx660 level card, but the faster ones really can use an i5.
