« on: December 06, 2013, 03:08:12 AM »
Going to post all tutorial videos here from now on. Videos will cover everything from the basics like how to control your plane, takeoff and landing, and basic dot commands to some more advanced stuff such as ACM, throttle control, and flying defensively.

Here's some basics to help you get started!

Basics: How to control your aircraft.

Latrobe I ran into you a couple of days ago flying a 109 low and slow, it was a great tutorial. I was amazed watching you fight against two or three others. I just hope I don't show up in one titled "what not to do".  :salute

a nice job, I spent close to 40 years giving flight instruction, are you working from a teaching plan or script or are you winging it as you progress?  You may want to produce a short video on the four fundamentals.  This would provide much needed background information to the user and fill in some of the gaps.  Your videos as developed are more or less a do as I do, with the user not having an understanding of the relationship between airspeed and control input.  The result of which is they may or may not have the same result as you and with no clear understanding as to why?

I'm pretty much just winging this like every thing else I do.  :) When I get time to work on a tutorial I'll go ahead and make it. What are the four fundamentals you are talking about?

The four fundamentals are the four things you can do with an aircraft.

1. climb
2. descend
3. roll left or right
4. straight and level

The teaching plan or lesson plan would explain the relationship of how the controls effect power and attitude and how as a result the aircraft climbs or descends or rolls left or right or remains straight and level.  How power and attitude together results in a given performance (airspeed).  As an example,  one needs excess power and the right pitch attitude to climb and how we use gauges in the aircraft to fine tune our control of  engine power.  There are a lot of write ups on the internet, just look up aviation flight training and the four fundamentals.   It's always been part of the first lesson plan for primary flight students.

I don't understand all the little detailed and technical stuff like that. I probably will go over those things in future videos but I'll probably be explaining it in a different way (the dumbed down version because I'm not that smart  :) )

It's not detailed technical stuff, it's the four fundamentals and it's already dumbed down.  but it's called the fundamentals for a reason, oh well, good luck.

I think you should skip to the more advanced stuff...  That's what most of us really want to see!   :D

But then that leaves all the new guys just trying to figure out how to start up the game. Have to start somewhere, the basic of basics sounded like a good starting point.  :D

HTC has already said anyone with a Utube channel can link to HTC's Utube channel.

Latrobe,I agree we can use all the basic stuff in video, like you said it really helps the new guys. Now if we can find a way to get the new guys to find this stuff as easy as possible.

  Good stuff,keep it up!
