Were not talking about full aircraft skins, nose art is rather small - but I do agree it would certainly hamper some internets that are slow - especially some on Dialup - the only way this would work if the Image is uploaded to the HTC server and then download from there (like skins, you download them in bulk).

+1 if they can be uploaded, -1 if they can't, no need for more lag for something you can't even see in a furball and only on a runway.

I'm sympathetic to peoples financial situations.. But how long are we going to allow people still trying to play Aces High on their Pentium 1 via 33k modem to hold the game back?

What I am asking is a trade to be fair for everyone, the nose arts would have to be uploaded - and then downloaded by everyone just like as if it was a skin. If you join FSO and sitting in the tower and 200 people are on and you don't have their nose art, you start downloading what you don't have, in 5 or 10 minutes it would be finished, and you can be flying FSO without a hiccup with every ones skin showing, rather then just getting in range and having to download the skin from there.

It has nothing to do with people's financial situation.

you and all the other owners make the decision and that's it.  why make it complicated.

see revo this is where you have your head in the sand.  in the highlighted statement  you actually talk as if you are one of the owners of the game sitting at a table discussing who can play the game.  if would sound better if you rephrased it to something along the lines of "how long is aces high gonna allow people to play using crappy computers".

and second this wish will be very hard to be granted because people will abuse it from day one.  how long do you think it will be before there's airplanes flying around with "i hate the president", "taxes suxs", "nazi rules", the silly tags would be endless.

and if you suggest that AH approve each one before being release, well how long do you think it will take them to approve several thousands with several hundred more a month being changed?

I would love to put a "rocket vulcher" tag right on my plane but I am not naive enough to think that at this point AH is gonna waste time granting this wish.  perhaps in the future but not now.  and even if it is granted, just like in WOT it most likely be a few generic quotes to choose from.

Honestly my comment was not intended to throw support behind this idea. It's cool, and if it were to be implemented I would probably make use of it. But if it isn't I won't lose any sleep over it.
Nor am I dumb enough to think that I own HTC, or have any real say in it's operation as an individual. However, we as a community have influence simply because if we stop playing HTC stops making money, and that would force HiTech to downgrade to a cheaper brand of Scotch.
So when people complain on the forums about proposed updates or changes because they want to continue playing the game on their Commodore 64 I can't help but worry that it might actually work, which is great for them but probably not so great for the game in the long run.

see revo this is the thing you normally ignore.  ht polled a year or so ago about what kind of hardware we play with.  now I dont mean to speak for AH but with the new update, and it's my understanding that about 20 players will be affected.  I could have misinterpreted but that's what I understood. 20 fricking players.

so when you talk about this commodore 64 and intel 1 bs without actually knowing what AH polled, well it makes you look like your high horse is well too high.

so unless you can back up your commodore and intel 1 statements then dont do it dude, it serves no purpose.  but I would love for you to post your system specs. I am curious as to how it relates to all the others.

I'll post mine if you want.

2500k cpu
16 gigs ram
sound card, over priced if you ask me
sli evga 465 vcs
2560x1440 monitor
true surround sound headset that plugs into video card (held by endless crazy glue and electrical tape) broken in many places
trakir.

not the newest and bestest system. but when people talk about crappy graphics and I compare them to wot with it's limited range.  I dont see it as that much apart.

but of course, you may have a better system that can tell otherwise.

A decent 7-8 years old system can run AH very well: athlonx2, radeon x1900 xt, 2 gigs of ram. True, not on full, but still playable if you fine tune the advanced graphics.
Tryed it on a cousin's puter this january.

2 years ago was flying a koth from a p4, ati 9600... thats a 2003 puter... the game was playable in 1440p resolution when i turned off the self-shadowing.

What are you talking about?

dude you are in the middle of the pack and should not be throwing stones.  a lot of players in this game would say you are the reason we cant have great graphics.  your cpu was released in 2009.  4 years ago.  it's possible that your cpu only uses 1 core to play aces high.  your gpu was a couple of years ago.  I have been told that my evga 465 are over the hill.  it's all a matter of perspective.  have fun talking crap about others who have low end computers like some think yours is  :salute.

The difference is that my "middle of the pack" machine still runs the game perfectly, and will run it perfectly even if the graphics are updated. :)
And if for whatever reason an update comes along that changes that you won't catch me on the forums asking HTC to quit making things better.
