The only problem with that is on almost all maps that fight is about an hours flight away. I do not wish to fly that long for one fight. I don't like having my climb out time to the fight 5 times longer than actual fight time.  
I'd go play Microsoft Flight Simulator if I just wanted to fly around looking at the scenery.

Listen dude. On most days numbers are totally slanted like 80,50,20 at least on my timezone. Join the side in the bucket i.e. the side that has only 20 players. They will be constantly steamrolled by both bigger countries and you shall be defending against the horde virtually with zero help. Most of your countrymen will be sitting in GVs or ack as in air your life will be short and cruel.

I really don't want friendlies coming in to help me. I want them to come into my fight with the intent to kill me as well, but they can't since I'm green.

There is my Christmas present for you:

1. take a plane for example for knights and fly to the border area between bishops and rooks and enjoy being hunted...
It would work especially well on "Pizza" like maps without large sea areas in the middle so the flight would be short.
2. Take a plane and fly NOE to the enemy HQ and than pop-up... you'll find yourself hunted very fast.

Ahhhhh, one more: really good guys always fly with wingman. Even if you are super-pilot you'll have hard time beating two good pilots that fly in cooperative way.

I beg to differ... KOTH is not lame! KOTH did not die after 2010! and KOTH is not only 1 vs 1 !

I myself, think koth is one of the best events, Aces High has to offer! especially for those who are here for aerial dogfighting, plain and simple...

KOTH is fun when there is a lot of competition, but hardly when there isn't. Maybe that is my outlook on it. I used to blow off Football games for KOTH, but now every chance I get I go to the game instead of flying KOTH. KOTH just isn't as appealing to me anymore.

Also, KOTH is almost always a 1 v 1 and it will never be a 10 v 1 (Like Latrobe Wants) just due to the simple fact many people don't fly KOTH anymore.

You can get this effect over furball lake in the DA.  There, you can switch sides as often as you want, so you can make sure you are always on the least-populated side.  Also, regardless, if you fly to the base of an enemy's mesa and hang out there, you are very likely to get swarmed.  You can adjust how much you are swarmed by how close to the base of the enemy's mesa you hang out.  If right at the base is too much of a swarm, you can move out a bit and lessen it a little.
